Do you have something big coming up in a week yet you still don’t feel picturesque enough for it? We’ve all been there — may it be for a planned beach trip, a wedding we have to attend, or a reunion with our high school buddies, we definitely want to look our best. However, if you forgot to prepare for it months ahead, you might now feel like bailing because well, who wants to be judged for their looks, right?

But don’t take back that RSVP just yet, because there are definitely some things you can do to look better in a week.

Here are some of them:

1. Start a juice cleanse

Cleansing your body of toxins is a great way to improve your appearance, almost immediately. Fortunately, there are tons of very good juice cleanses you can avail yourself of. You just have to do your fair share of research to find one that aligns well with your goal. Some vegetable juices focus on improving your metabolism, while there are fruit juices that help cells regenerate fast. You just have to find a good cleanse that will help you address pain points about how you look and feel. If you find the right one, a week is all you need to start looking better.

2. Learn a flattering updo

Now that you are pressed for time to look good in under a week, it is time to learn how to improve your presentation of yourself. Some of this is pretty standard stuff — if you’re self-conscious about some weight you’ve gained, shop for clothes that do not highlight the extra weight. If you feel like your face is too bloated, you can learn a certain makeup or hairstyles that will make your face appear slimmer. Looking good mostly hinges on your ability to carry yourself well, so start learning how to present yourself better. Whether taking on 80s makeup trends or dying your hair, it’s all about flattering choices.

3. Cut back on sodium

Too much sodium in your system will force your body to retain most of the water it comes by, making you appear more bloated. Cutting back on sodium can boost your appearance very quickly, especially if your normal salt consumption is off the charts. Basically, you can just keep your salt consumption to what’s served on the table with your meals, and skip the chips and other salty snacks for now.

4. Remove unhealthy vices from your system

One of the easiest ways to appear older than you actually are is by smoking. So if you’ve consistently smoked cigarettes in the last few years, don’t be surprised if the aging effects show up on your skin. Luckily, most of this damage is reversible. If you want to look (and feel) better in a week, quit smoking cold turkey now — trust us, it can be done.

Unhealthy vices can also include going to bed too late and sleeping in. Start sleeping better today and you will definitely see results in a week.

5. Get physical

While there is no feasible way to develop a six-pack from scratch in a week, exercising now won’t be futile. Working out gives you a special kind of glow because of all the good hormones it releases, and it can also get rid of extra water weight even if you do it for just a week. Make sure you don’t overexert yourself, though. Ease yourself into it. You don’t actually have to do more than jog a few laps around the block in the morning or running the treadmill 20 minutes daily — it will still give you the endorphins you need. If you want to help your body burn more fat, you can also add dietary supplements in your diet. According to this LeanBean review on Westword, this kind of supplement can help you burn fat and lose weight quickly by suppressing your appetite, boosting your metabolism and energy levels. Of course, you’ll still have to keep track of the calorie intake and have healthy eating habits.

6. Relax, and be confident

Over-stressing about your looks can produce the exact opposite effect of how you want to look better in a week. There isn’t much time, but that added stress will still show up on your appearance. So try your best to relax, and just be confident about how you look at the end of this week. As mentioned earlier, looking good is all about presenting yourself well, and a dash of confidence can definitely help you get there.

So good luck with whatever big thing is coming up for you in a week! Keep in mind that it’s never too late to boost how you look, as long as you’re willing to invest time in self-care, especially if you’ve been neglecting yourself for the longest time. You deserve this, girl!
