Solange Wilvert by James Macari for Vogue Spain May 2011

I Love Brasil – The May issue of Vogue Spain celebrates all things Brazil with James Macari’s water themed shoot showcasing hot spring fashions alongside notable Brazilian sites. Starring Solange Wilvert styled by Marina Gallo in languid looks from the likes of D&G, Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney–Macari goes from the beaches of Rio de Janeiro to the busy city streets for the outstanding images.

  1. I don’t think the photos adapt well to the culture. The random “proof that we’re in Rio” shots don’t do this justice. James does generally have fantastic work though and it’s rare not to completely love what he puts out.

    • Not sure about the adapting to culture part of your comment but I do agree about the token shots of Rio. Unless they’re trying to do some kind of travel fashion story.

i think photos are really good, nice edit, with various lightning styles and techniques, interesting to watch as a whole.

  3. there have been so many shoots in brazil this season. i have to say i think this is definitely the weakest of them all.

  4. Wow, I remember Solange from the Elie Saab fall/winter 2008 HC show.. but these shots just seem so like they’ve tried too hard.
