There is less than a week to go before the 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is filmed in London, England, for the very first time. This year introduces a few newcomers to the glittering runway with American model Taylor Hill landing one of the coveted spots. Discovered at 14-years-old at a dude ranch in Colorado, the dark-haired beauty has since gone on to walk shows for top brands like Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel. FGR had the chance to ask Taylor about prepping for the big show, her beauty tips and which model she looks up to.
When I’m not working I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family. It’s nice to take a break from life in New York and go home to California to spend a weekend with my boyfriend and my puppy.
What is it like getting ready to walk your first VS show?
It’s very exciting and definitely a little nerve-wracking! I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like to be part of such an iconic event and to experience something as huge as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
What was your reaction when you found out you were casted?
When I found out I was casted, I was so happy and full of emotion. I even cried for a minute because I just couldn’t believe something so amazing was happening to me! This is the job I’ve been working for and getting that great news is the best feeling.
Have you done anything special to prepare for the runway in terms of diet or exercise? A lot of VS models talk about working extra hard before the big show.
I definitely step it up but I also really try to work out and eat healthy every day, all year long. For the past few weeks I’ve been doing a lot of Crossfit to prepare. It’s an extremely fast-paced, high-intensity workout. I love how difficult it is — the challenge of each workout really gets me pumped up for the show.
As a model you must have to be conscientious of your skin. What are some beauty tips you can give?
I just try to be diligent about washing my face every night before bed and I moisturize with coconut oil to keep my skin from getting dry.
What are your go to beauty products?
One of my favorite go to beauty products is the Maybelline BB Cream. It’s super lightweight, moisturizing, and has SPF 30 to protect my skin during the day from the sun.
What do you do when you are not working?
When I’m not working I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family. It’s nice to take a break from life in New York and go home to California to spend a weekend with my boyfriend and my puppy. I also love to draw to relax and regroup. Since I’m from Colorado, I’m also a big fan of snowboarding. Since I’m working all the time, I don’t get to do it much anymore so it’s always a special treat when I do get to hit the slopes.
Are there any models who you look up to?
I especially look up to Gisele Bündchen because she’s an extremely smart business woman who has managed to keep herself relevant in an industry that’s all about the next best thing. It doesn’t get much better than Gisele and I admire her for building such an impressive brand.
How do you feel about the musical guests this year? Anybody you’re looking forward to seeing perform particularly?
I’m so excited to be in a show with such talented people and I’m especially looking forward to seeing Ed Sheeran perform. I think he’s an extremely talented artist and I respect him and all his hard work.
