With Proenza Schouler’s fall-winter 2016 collection, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez begun where spring left off with an outing focusing on a theme of control and release. As a result, a showing of fitted jackets with lace-up fronts, bodycon knitwear dresses and baggy trousers took over the runway which was staged at the Whitney Museum’s new location.
For outerwear, shearling accented bomber jackets or tailored coats in shiny fabrics were paired with baggy trousers featuring undone ties. Patchwork fur coats in hourglass shapes, cinched at the waist were definite standouts. For dresses, the Proenza Schouler woman wears strappy numbers decorated with strips of crepe, revealing skin but not too much.
