Bold Ruffles
Ruffles were popular in all four fashion capitals, and Paris-based designers put their own stamp on the trend for spring 2016 with romantic touches and tiered layers. From modern ruffles in body con silhouettes to dreamy sheer materials, ruffles were in for spring. At Balmain, Olivier Rousteing used the technique on sexy looks made for his “Balmain army”.
Bold Ruffles–A master of print and textiles, Dries Van Noten played with transparencies for his spring collection. Tiered ruffles added a 3D element to his already eye-catching looks.
Bold Ruffles–Inspired by 17th century silk makers, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton juxtaposed hard and soft elements for spring 2016. Under her gaze, the ruffle trend was soft and romantic.
Bold Ruffles—Giambattista Valli certainly knows how to make a dress, and with his spring 2016 collection, the Italian designer went retro with ruffle embellished gowns in funky prints and bold colors.
Bra Tops
For spring 2016, designers focused on undergarments as day wear. In New York and Milan, many designers focused on the slip dress. But in Paris, it was all about the bra top. Worn with layering or with nothing at all, showing skin is in for spring. At Dries Van Noten, the designer created pointy bras to wear over transparent tops.
Bra Tops—Mugler under David Koma’s watch is all about showing skin and bodycon silhouettes. For the brand’s spring 2016 show, the designer paired high-waist pants with the bra top for a sexy result.
Bra Tops–Alexander Wang’s last show for Balenciaga was an ode to bedroom dressing. In pale white and cream hues, models hit the catwalk in bra tops with long robes to match.
Bra Tops—Dior’s Raf Simons embraced feminine style with light and airy looks perfect for spring. The bra top was worn underneath sheer coverups for a ladylike yet elegant effect.
