Fernbeziehung – The February issue of Vogue Germany finds inspiration in geisha style for this eastern-themed story photographed by Sebastian Kim. Model Franzi Mueller is an ethereal vision in the ornate designs and headpieces of Alexander McQueen, Prada, Haider Ackermann and Mugler amongst others selected by Katie Mossman. Makeup artist Maud Laceppe creates Franzi’s strong eyebrows while hair stylist Tuan Anh Tran puts her hair in a sleek chignon.

Love the styling, so great!
The whole editorial is beautiful. The styling is great, the location is beautiful and the photography is fantastic. I just find it a shame they didn’t use one of the beautiful Asian models – I think Sui He’d make a great Geisha.
Right, but isn’t using a Chinese model to represent Japanese culture equally inappropriate?
Right, but the styling contains both Japanese and Chinese elements…
Ausgezeichnet! From the recent Geisha Punk to this Geisha Glam, there’s a whole new world of possibilities for different silhouettes, prints, settings… (but yeah, why not an Asian model? Fei Fei would have be perfect, too).
Amazing location and atmosphere. I don’t love the model, but think using an Asian girl would have been too cliche. It’s nice to mix things up,and take a modern approach.
