Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton took a romantic approach to the spring-summer 2016 season with an outing full of ruffles, pleats and lace that were straight from a fairytale. Burton found inspiration in the Huguenots, a 17th century group of French immigrants who settled in London, and were known for their craft of silk making. The high necklines and attention to detail including rich jacquards, washed silk faille and officer inspired jackets were all steeped in vintage styles. Burton made sure to keep a modern thread throughout the forty plus looks with distressed denim, platform shoes and a peeks of skin with transparency and unexpected cut-outs.
