IMG’s New Move–IMG Models has unveiled its show cards for New York Fashion Week, and surprisingly amongst the straight-size models there are five plus size beauties. IMG Models Senior Vice President and Managing Director Ivan Bart shared with Comopolitan that the modeling agency “[wants] to be an ageless, raceless, weightless agency”. This is fresh off a move which combined its straight-sized and plus sized modeling board rather than having separate sections.
Add in the recent mainstream coverage for curvier models, and it seems as if 2014 is shaping up to be a good year for body diversity. A model’s inclusion in a show package does not guarantee they will walk in a show, but it is a big move on IMG’s part. See the showcards below featuring Ashley Graham, Marquita Pring, Inga Eiriksdottir, Danielle Redman and Julie Henderson.
Robyn on Cosmo–A regular favorite of Cosmopolitan Australia, Robyn Lawley, lands her first cover for the magazine with the publication’s March issue. Posing for Kane Skennar, the curvy girl rocks a crop top look styled by Nicole Adolphe in the cover shoot. In the magazine, Robyn opens up about her distaste for the term plus size. She says, “Personally, I hate the term ‘plus-size’.It’s ridiculous and derogatory – it puts women down and it puts a label on them. I want to be the swimwear label that fits the best in the world. That’s my goal. Whether we get there, we’ll see.” Robyn certainly seems to be on her way with a recent Barneys beauty campaign as well as work for Mango’s new Violeta collection, and her swimwear designs worn by the likes of Beyonce.
Robyn Models for Mango – After appearing in the teaser image for Mango’s new plus size line, “Violeta”, Robyn Lawley is back once again for the range’s new catalogue. We have a preview of the shoot below featuring the plus size model wearing a mix of denim looks, printed shirts and comfy dresses. No matter whether she’s sporting swimwear or jeans, Robyn is definitely a stunner through and through!

Mango’s Violeta – Spanish retailer Mango is setting its sights on expansion with a new line of clothes called, Violeta. The range will include “comfortable, feminine and modern” designs for young women at sizes 40 to 52 which translates to sizes 10 to 24 in UK sizing. With more brands embracing plus size models, this seems like a good move for Mango. The line will be available in France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey, Russia and Spain starting on January 15th online. FYI, Robyn Lawley is the model featured in the teaser image.
