Gucci opened Milan Fashion Week with a fall 2011 showing which surprisingly stayed in the same vein as pre-fall’s glam seventies collection. Adding to that base, Gucci designer Frida Giannini took on jewel toned hues of turquoise and fuchsia with fur accents and sheer floor-length gowns. Models strutted down the runway with oversize hats, dark shades, plum lips and tailored jackets for one sexy and strong outing.

Gucci is one of my favourite brands but I’m totally disappointed with that collection. It doesn’t even look like Gucci.
What gorgeous hues! A little sophisticated for my taste, but very gorgeous and luxurious nonetheless.

It doesn’t look like previous Gucci collections, but there’s just something I really like about this collection, something I can’t really put my finger on.
This is sure to be the greatest collection I have seen for this season so far. The jewled tone, exotic leather and decadent fur…everything is yelling opulence!
BTW, I enjoy seeing Joan closing the show!

The dress on Anabela… <3 I am getting a major Louis Vuitton/Marc Jacobs S/S 11 re-hash vibe, except with more fur and pimpness.
The dresses are gorgeous and the colors are -to die-for!! This is one of my favorite Fall 2011 collections so far.

Being totally honest, I really dislike how much fur I’ve seen in the past few seasons. It’s just getting ridiculous. I don’t think I will ever understand what people find so wonderful about it. Is it about the warmth? That’s silly because I live in northern Canada and can stay perfectly warm and still look good in a vegan coat.
Some change is obviously needed in the fashion world, whether it’s a good slap across the faces of each designer or a law against this sort of thing or to have one of the big fashion houses change their ways. Sure fur is part of the ‘trend’ but isn’t the idea of fashion to create and evolve with the times?
Other than my rant, I have to say that there is something absolutely breathtaking about the mixture of sheers, pops of rich colour, and the huge blossoms in the last few pieces. The yellow is especially beautiful…
