Givenchy Focuses on Strong Shapes for Spring 2018

Joanna Elizabeth / Published October 1, 2017

British designer Clare Waight Keller made a strong debut at Givenchy’s spring-summer 2018 show. Previously, the designer teased the collection with the ‘Transformation Seduction’ campaign released for fall. Presented during the seventh day of Paris Fashion Week, Waight Keller looked to Hubert de Givenchy’s archives for the silhouettes.

Strong shoulders and bold prints dominated the catwalk. An animal pattern from 1981 and clover print from 1961 was reworked on the structured shapes. Boxy jackets, pleated skirts and asymmetrical hemlines were main aspects of the collection. For footwear, western-inspired boots featuring metal cap-toes brought a cool factor to each look.
