Bright Lights – For Camilla and Marc’s resort 2014 campaign and lookbook, the brand taps new face Holly Rose to wear its new collection. Titled “Suprematist”, the season finds inspiration in early twentieth century art. A color palette of black, white and dusky pink stands out with luxe fabrics like silk, chantilly lace and metallic gold jacquard. Resort in the City – Catherine McNeil is back once again as the face of Donna Karan, appearing in the label’s resort 2014 advertising campaign. The Australian model poses for Lachlan Bailey in the advertisements and a cashmere mailer for the season. With the backdrop of a New York City skyline, Catherine looks ever the picture of elegance in the new campaign.
Rita in NYC – In August we shared the news that DKNY enlisted British singer Rita Ora for its resort 2014 campaign. Now you can see the print advertisements for yourself as the brand has just released the images starring the blonde beauty. Rita poses for Lachlan Bailey in a series of colorful images photographed around New York City. Alastair McKimm styled Rita in mesh tops, neon scarves and leather jackets from the resort season.
Albino Resort - For its resort 2014 collection, fashion brand Albino looks towards the couture shapes of the sixties for inspiration. The silhouettes of the season play on volume and proportion with a focus on layers and draping. The color palette for resort juxtaposes neutral hues such as cipria and porcelain white with more vibrant hues like fuchsia, ultramarine blue and lake red. Macramé trapeze coats are paired with pyjama trousers as well as long skirts in stylized floral prints.
Elie Saab Resort – For Elie Saab’s resort 2014 collection, the designer gets graphic with an outing inspired by mod color-blocking and the brand’s signature elegance. A color palette of gardenia, nude, lavender, ruby-red and black tells a story of sumptuous luxe. For daytime, the Saab woman wears short draped dresses with geometric cutouts and lace tops. Come evening time, her hemline lengthens with crystal embellishments and dramatic trains.
Dion Lee Resort – Australian designer Dion Lee has dubbed his resort 2014 collection, “Oil + Water”. With a title like that, you are sure to see an outing of contrasts. Hard and soft as well as light and dark elements work together for a contemporary collection focused on structure. “Water” can be found in aquatic themed pieces ranging from straight-forward swimwear to the more abstract with wave-shaped patterns and disc shaped embellishments. The “Oil” of resort is translated in black, leather bonded neoprene and satin looks ranging from sculpted dresses to slim-fit trousers.
McQ Alexander McQueen Resort – Creative director Sarah Burton found inspiration in London style circa the 1990s for McQ Alexander McQueen’s resort 2014 collection. The new season’s outing took to the streets with a selection of printed pants, cool blazers and metal chain accessories. The McQ woman layers up this resort season with sweaters, jackets and fringe with a menswear influence. Alexander McQueen Resort – For Alexander McQueen’s resort 2014 collection, creative director Sarah Burton was inspired by 1940s, World War II era style with an outing of pale neutrals, strong blues and tawny browns. This season, there is a focus on the waist with crop tops, belting and cinched cotton jackets. Although Burton’s inspiration goes back to the factory girl days, the second half of the collection evokes 60s flower child with midriff baring tops, floral motifs, crotched detailing and patchwork denim.
Vionnet Resort – Vionnet shows off their feminine roots with a sleek modernity for its resort 2014 collection. This season the Vionnet woman poses alongside an arch of flowers, reflecting the feminine 1940s and 1970s inspired silhouettes. Skirts fall at the 3/4 length while separates show some skin with cropped tops and sheer lace effects. The label goes back to its heritage with bias cuts and draping while kimono inspired sleeves and color-blocking bring a cool vibe to the season. Accessories for resort include detachable knit collars, leather or grosgrain belts and embroidered knit headscarves.
Saint Laurent Resort – Hedi Slimane enlists Sasha Pivovarova for Saint Laurent’s resort 2014 lookbook. Photographed by the creative director, Sasha impresses in black and white images featuring the new collection. This season we see a lot of leather, sheer and sequin materials balanced out with slim-cut jackets and pants. Resort juxtaposes the hard and soft with Grecian inspired cuts in hard leather.
