Ladylike Edge – Taking the slot as the final major show of New York Fashion Week, Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa presented a mix of ladylike silhouettes with a modern edge for the label’s fall 2012 collection. Known for its minimal appeal, the new season focused on dramatic, hourglass shapes in hues of coral, black, wheat and ash grey. Lush materials of mohair, tweed, leather, wool and shearling were matched with metallic belts cinched at the waist. Beauty also coincided with the severe clothing as models took to the runway in slicked back hair and understated makeup.
Ornate Beauty – Inspired by the Japanese geisha, Nagi Sakai brings together a fusion of east and west for the December issue of Glamour Germany. Starring Patrycja Gardygajlo, the colorful images feature eclectic ensembles with denim, lace and colorful patterns styled by Kai Margrander. / Hair by Tuan Anh Tran, Makeup by Rie Omoto, Manicure by Kelly B
Skyline Couture – Karl Lagerfeld appeared to be inspired by air travel and stewardess uniforms for Chanel’s spring 2012 haute couture collection presented earlier today. The Grand Palais was transformed into the interior of an airplane with models walking down the aisles in elongated silhouettes and extended shoulder winged sleeves. Playing up the jetsetter theme, blue was a dominate hue for spring with sky blue, sapphire and navy all making an appearance. Amid the blue display, there is crystal beading, drop pocket dresses and pleated skirts.
Couture Mood – With spring 2012 Haute Couture, Dior atelier Bill Gaytten delivers a ladylike collection featuring a tame color palette of ash, black, plum and ivory. Cinched waists, sheer tops and full, pleated skirts dominate the runway this season. Playing with prints, the Dior woman also wears hounds tooth, floral patterns and gradient lines for spring. The finale dresses were demure as well, showing a moody mix of black and grey with just a touch of sparkle.
Five by Sea – With the recent news of Dolce & Gabbana’s offshoot line D&G ending, the spring 2012 campaign season marks the final advertisement for the diffusion brand. Starring Samantha Gradoville, Patrycja Gardygajlo and Valerija Sestic alongside male models Simone Nobili and Alfred Kovac, the group poses for Giampaolo Sgura in spring’s colorful prints and skin baring shapes.
