New Religion – Online fashion retailer FORWARD by Elyse Walker taps Daniela Braga for its latest editorial highlighting pre-fall designer apparel. The shoot uses Givenchy’s Le Makeup collection for beauty with images which evoke religious themes, modern gothicism and the architecture of Japanese artist Tadao Ando. Designs from the likes of Valentino, Versus, Chloe and Alexander McQueen stand out with creative direction and photography by Sara Marija Saric.
Into the Blu – After a video preview last week, here is a first look at Blumarine’s fall 2013 campaign starring Candice Swanepoel. The South African model trades in her platinum blonde locks for a brunette hairdo. Camilla Akrans lenses Candice in a seductive pose for the autumn advertisements, which are inspired by the work of Albert Watson and Helmut Newton. (Image – WWD)
Laetitia – Model and actress Laetitia Casta graces the pages of Vogue Brazil’s August issue wearing colorful prints and standout accessories. Eric Guillemain (2b Management) photographs the French beauty with styling by Viviana Volpicella. Laetitia’s wardrobe includes designs from Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Michael Kors amongst others in the shoot.
Straight Forward – Sara Blomqvist is the latest star of Akris’ fall 2013 campaign. The Swedish model rocks a short and blonde pixie cut as she fronts the series of black and white, studio snapped advertisements lensed by Karim Sadli. With a collection inspired by the style of aviator Amelia Earhart, the 1930s look gets a sleek and modern update with an outing of sharp lines, focus on outerwear and sporty netting.
Sustainable Style – UK retailer Topshop teams up with designers Filippo Ricci and Orsola de Castro of the label, Reclaim to Wear. This is their second collaboration with the brand, after previously working together in 2012. The items featured are produced in England and are made out of left over fabrics to ensure no waste. The seven piece capsule collection includes floral print dresses, tops and skirts at prices ranging from $68.00 to $140.00. The Reclaim collection is available now in select Topshop stores and online.
An Extended Stay – Dree Hemingway has her own private getaway for Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall 2013 catalogue, lensed by Koto Bolofo. The American model gets decked out in the season’s capes, embroidered dresses and the brand’s many accessories in the shoot photographed on location at Paris’ Hôtel de Crillon. The whimsical shoot highlights the diversity of the pre-fall collection which ranges from casual elegance with simple knits to luxe refinement with full furs.
The Passion of Rouge – Natalie Portman has been named as the new face of Dior’s “Rouge Dior” lipstick line. The actress is already the face of the Miss Dior fragrance and the “Diorskin Forever” cosmetics. Dior describes the lipstick as one of passion and power.
Style Roundup – Check out our roundup of some of this week’s most stylish looks served up by ladies including actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Watts and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Models also had some great style this week with beauties like Miranda Kerr and Georgia May Jagger wearing looks from Dolce & Gabbana and more.
The Beauty and the Boys – Model and actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley joins boy band One Direction for the August 2013 cover of Glamour. The group is all smiles for the Music Issue of the magazine, which hits newsstands on July 9th. This marks Rosie’s first cover for an American fashion magazine.
McQ Alexander McQueen Resort – Creative director Sarah Burton found inspiration in London style circa the 1990s for McQ Alexander McQueen’s resort 2014 collection. The new season’s outing took to the streets with a selection of printed pants, cool blazers and metal chain accessories. The McQ woman layers up this resort season with sweaters, jackets and fringe with a menswear influence.
