Oversized Style – Bette Franke graces her first Vogue Japan cover for the magazine’s July 2013 edition. Lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, the Dutch beauty rocks a gigantic hula hoop bag from Chanel’s spring-summer 2013 collection with a swimsuit and platform sandals also from the same season.
Waves in Motion – Vogue Japan serves up a very different beachwear spread in its July 2013 edition. Rather than choosing skimpy swimsuits, stylist Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele has covered Magdalena Langrova (Next Models) up in wetsuits and other conservative activewear. It’s unusual to see summer fashions that show so little skin, but this approach also ensures the spread makes an impression. French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier snapped the seaside shots of the Czech model.
A New Tradition – American model Karlie Kloss gets decked out in a wardrobe of all Saint Laurent for Vogue Japan’s June issue. The beauty poses for the label’s Creative Director Hedi Slimane in a mix of slim-fitted pants, billowing gowns and glittering jackets. George Cortina styles Karlie for the understated studio shoot where she dons red lips and a chic bob.
The Saint Laurent Wave – American beauty Karlie Kloss gets yet another Vogue cover with the June 2013 edition of Vogue Japan. The leading model poses for Hedi Slimane in a look he designed for Saint Laurent’s spring collection. Wearing a gold embellished jacket with a large embellished bow and ruffled top, Karlie gets bohemian glam in the studio image.
When Life Was Exotic – The Eastern inspired trend has made its way to many editorials this season, but Camilla Akrans’ soft romanticism adds a new twist to the topic for Vogue Japan’s April issue. Model Nadja Bender poses for Akrans in ornate brocades and patterns styled by Sissy Vian. Juxtaposed between urban landscapes and an Asian decor, a platinum blonde Nadja delights in the designs of Alexander McQueen, Chanel and Valentino amongst many others.
On a Clear Day – Othilia Simon poses for Julia Noni (Chris Boal Artists) in the May issue of Vogue Japan. The brunette beauty wears pale and understated looks styled by Aurora Sansone featuring designs from the likes of Calvin Klein Collection, Salvatore Ferragamo and Diane von Furstenberg. Hair stylist Seb Bascle and makeup artist Topolino create Othilia’s braid ‘do and fresh-faced beauty.
New Year Beauty – Joan Smalls graces the first Vogue Japan cover of 2013–starring on the magazine’s January issue. The top model wears a black gown with gold jewelry.

All the Riches a Girl Can Have – Tapping into this season’s trend of embellished patterns and embroidery, Giampaolo Sgura captures a Marie Antoinette inspired story for the October issue of Vogue Japan.
