Vionnet Pre-Fall 2014 – The pre-fall 2014 collection from Vionnet pays tribute to founder Madeleine Vionnet’s love of pleating and draping for the new season. A contemporary focus is keyed in with a variety of techniques used to create volume ranging from wool jackets to silk plisse skirts. Pants also take an Eastern focus with origami-like folds in rich jacquards. The Vionnet woman’s evening wear looks for pre-fall include dreamy maxi dresses, sometimes with high slits or open backs.
Jennifer in Vionnet – Actress Jennifer Garner attended the premiere of her recent film “Dallas Buyers Club” held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences yesterday. The star opted to wear a navy crêpe sleeveless draped gown from Vionnet’s spring 2014 collection.
Amber in Vionnet – Attending the premiere of her new film, “Paranoia”, actress Amber Heard wore a sky blue, black and ivory silk cady draped dress with beaded embellishments from Vionnet. The blonde beauty paired the look with a mussed bun and jewelry from David Yurman. Amber’s shoes are from Jimmy Choo.
Mirrors – Vionnet enlists leading model Malgosia Bela for its fall 2013 campaign, shot by Katja Rahlwes. Evoking the seventies, Malgosia poses in front of mirrors showing the multi-faceted designs of autumn ranging from bias-cut dresses to gold-dipped pants. Riccardo Ruini worked on art direction for the shoot while George Cortina styled the Polish beauty.
Vionnet Resort – Vionnet shows off their feminine roots with a sleek modernity for its resort 2014 collection. This season the Vionnet woman poses alongside an arch of flowers, reflecting the feminine 1940s and 1970s inspired silhouettes. Skirts fall at the 3/4 length while separates show some skin with cropped tops and sheer lace effects. The label goes back to its heritage with bias cuts and draping while kimono inspired sleeves and color-blocking bring a cool vibe to the season. Accessories for resort include detachable knit collars, leather or grosgrain belts and embroidered knit headscarves.
Color Blocked Pre-Fall – Vionnet offers an elegant outing of color-blocking and bias cuts for its pre-fall 2013 collection. Inspired by the work of French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, the transitional season is based in a color palette of black and white with accents of emerald-green, sapphire, sea-foam and burgundy. Modeled by Hedvig Palm, the shapes are a mix of masculine and feminine with fluid draping and sculpted shoulders. Fabrics are rich, including duchesse satin, cady and sable crepes as well as fur trimmings and gold embroideries. Shoes and bags echo back to Vionnet’s founding with subtle bias and diagonal cuts in suede, leather, crocodile and satin for a luxurious touch.
Vionnet’s Resort Vision – Resort 2013 marks the first pre-spring collection from Vionnet designers Barbara and Lucia Croce. And as the two sisters move forward with their vision for the brand, they look towards the label’s DNA for inspiration. Founder Madeleine Vionnet’s Intarsio techniques can be seen in the resort collection with Grecian style dresses and drapey fabrics of double silk georgette, techno-cady and silk jersey on full display. The transitional season offers suit jackets, jumpers and crêpe de chine outerwear for a focus on daywear looks. The Croces also embrace color with floral prints and gradient patterns in delightful shades of lilac, blush, tangerine and orchid pink.
Model Karolina Kurkova attended the 2012 Rosenball charity event in Germany yesterday and looked quite statuesque in a nude, crystal embroidered Vionnet gown.
