A Pre-Fall Mix – The pre-fall 2013 collection from Sportmax focuses on silhouette and texture with a sumptuous outing of voluminous shapes and graphic prints. A contemporary color palette of black, white and grey keeps the transitional season effortlessly chic. Jackets feature a rounded shoulder line, evoking a cocoon-like shape while skirts are slim to contrast with the structural outerwear. An interesting mixture of materials including bonded leather, glossy beaver, shiny and matte tweed, wool and felted jersey brings a sense of intrigue to the Sportmax women’s wardrobe for pre-fall.
A Shapely Transition – Max Mara plays on oversized, menswear influenced shapes for its pre-fall 2013 collection. The looks, modeled by Alana Zimmer, come in mostly nude and neutral shades with the main staples being double-breasted jackets and slouchy trousers. The masculine elements of the collection are downplayed with fur embellishments, usage of color-blocking and column-shaped dresses. Sonia Spirit – For its pre-fall 2013 collection, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel embraces individuality with an Andy Warhol inspired outing of wardrobe basics tweaked with unique details. Whimsical touches such as animal prints, butterfly jewelry, polka dot prints and bright accents bring a sense of surprise to the transitional season. Balancing the masculine and the feminine, the Sonia woman’s silhouette is easy and loose-fitting. Knitwear, a staple of any Rykiel collection, is kept simple with a rare striped print–perfect for mixing and matching.
Lady Sings the Blues – Inspired by the practicality and glamour of the forties, DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten created angular silhouettes for their label’s pre-fall 2013 collection. Model Jasmine Tookes dons a mix of high-waisted pencil skirts, daywear jackets and menswear inspired tailoring reinterpreted with the DSquared2 aesthetic. Ultra-feminine looks in shades of lilac, carrot, rouge, sand, black and ruby-red place an emphasis on body conscious silhouettes. For evening wear, the DSquared2 woman gets ready to hit the town in floor-length silk chiffon and crêpe gowns.
Structured Knits – Pringle of Scotland continues its tradition of elegant knitwear with its pre-fall 2013 collection. Embracing knitwear as outerwear, the Pringle woman looks for clean and structured silhouettes this transitional season. The brand’s argyle pattern is explored through a pointelle diamond knit with silk, cashmere and wool sweaters. A dusky color palette of black, navy, storm blue, dusty pink and peony offers color-blocking styles for a play on geometric shapes.
Nude Pre-Fall – For pre-fall 2013, the Carlos Miele woman wears a wardrobe featuring muted shades of nude, black, lavender and indigo embellished with chunky stones and crystals. Cocktail dresses and gowns take the collection from day to night with kaleidoscopic patterns falling somewhere in between. Pleated and ruched detailing on Miele’s clinging silhouettes make the outing ultra-feminine; aided by a touch of delicate lace and beaded embroidery.
Decorated Pre-Fall – For Burberry’s pre-fall 2013 collection, chief creative officer Christopher Bailey focused on sculpted shapes with a touch of embellishment. Modeled by Karlina Cuane, the transitional season takes the classic trench into contemporary times aided by bold color-blocking, stripes and splattered prints. As for knitwear, the Burberry woman gets swathed in pure cashmere, alpaca wool and calvary twill in shades of crimson, navy, black and camel.
The Draped Silhouette – For Donna Karan’s pre-fall 2013 collection, the American designer focuses on structure and voluminous shapes for the transitional season. A neutral color palette of black, ashen grey and ivory hues complement the draped, cocoon-like shapes of Karan’s outerwear pieces. The sculpted jackets are contrasted by body-conscious, feminine silhouettes including pencil and circle-skirts.
