Galia Lahav, a renowned designer, crafted 28 iterations of this custom wedding gown in collaboration with the film’s costume designer, Mitchell Travers. Initially belonging to Tom’s mother, played by Jennifer Coolidge, the dress boasts a vintage charm with its champagne hue, reflecting the look of aged fabric. The silhouette, featuring dramatic puff sleeves and a belted waist, nods to the 80s, adding to its nostalgic allure.
As the plot thickens, the dress transforms into a symbol of Darcy’s journey. Initially pristine, the gown becomes rugged, mirroring the film’s action sequences complete with stunt scenes. Eventually, the dress and skirt get torn, dirtied, and even stained with blood, revealing a ruffled petticoat and corset, blending glamour with resilience.
Lopez’s hairstyle evolves, too, from a classic bridal updo with flowers to naturally glam and mussed waves, complementing the dress’s metamorphosis. Even her footwear transitions from Bella Belle’s elegant Anita ivory lace high heels to combat boots, merging style with practicality.
