Carol on Today’s Models–Eighties supermodel Carol Alt looks sizzling at 53-years-old, covering the new issue of Galore Magazine photographed by Jacob Dekat. The model landed campaigns for Pepsi and Cover Girl as well as starred on the 1982 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. The American beauty opened up to the magazine about health, what it was like modeling in the era of the supermodels and her thoughts on today’s models like Kate Upton (who is a Sports Illustrated regular) and Karlie Kloss. See some images and quotes from the article below, and check out more on GaloreMag.com.
Carol’s thoughts on Kate Upton:
“I think Kate is a product of great media hype. Without Sports Illustrated, I’m not sure she would’ve made it in the industry as a high fashion model. Because she is more of a large size model. And even if I’ve seen her in person, and I don’t think she’s in any way fat or overweight or anything; she’s just more large-sized than fashion models are.
Beauty & the Beast–Following up her gravity defying, bikini clad Sports Illustrated shoot, Kate Upton shows quite a different side for a story featured in CR Fashion Book. The bi-annual fashion glossy has released a preview of a new shoot inspired by “Beauty and the Beast”. Kate poses alongside Brazilian model Marlon Teixeira in covered-up fashions styled by Carine Roitfeld in the Karl Lagerfeld snapped spread. The blonde beauty is shown wearing classically styled looks from the likes of Celine, JW Anderson and Pringle of Scotland in the dramatic shoot.
Kate Teams Up with Neff–Headwear label Neff teams up with Kate Upton for a capsule collection of two beanies. It’s for a good cause too. Ten percent of the profits goes to the charity, Stand Up To Cancer. Kate models the beanies in a series of portraits where she wears comfy sweaters and casual jeans to go with the headgear. It’s certainly a drastic change from her recent Sports Illustrated shoot that had her modeling bikinis in zero Gs.
Models in Towels–Fashion photographer Mario Testino has been taking behind the scenes shots of top models for his Instagram. With all the girls posing in white towels and robes, the Peruvian creative has named it his “Towel Series”. Check out some images from the series below featuring Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel (who recently posed for him in Vogue Germany), Kate Upton, Emily DiDonato, Kate Moss and more.
Kate Defies Gravity–The fiftieth anniversary issue of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue follows up its cheeky cover with a feature starring Kate Upton. The girl of the moment poses in Cape Canaveral, Florida, at an air force base. Working it for photographer James Macari, the blonde bombshell rocks gold bikinis while she defies gravity at zero Gs. You can see the full Swimsuit Issue online at SI.com. Also, make sure to check out Kate’s recent Sam Edelman ads.
Kate on the Beach–Marking her second campaign for the brand, Kate Upton is the face of Sam Edelman’s spring-summer 2014 advertisements. Craig McDean captures the American beauty on a private beach for the new images which are styled by Karl Templer. “Kate is the model of the moment, and I’m thrilled to have her as the face of the brand again,” says Sam Edelman. “The Sam Girl is aspirational and knows all the latest trends, whether it’s fashion, the newest workout or hottest models. They all want to look like Kate.”
Kate’s Sideway Shoot–American model Kate Upton trades in her usual bombshell styling for something more simple with a feature in the spring-summer issue of LOVE Magazine. The “Sports Illustrated” model poses for Nigel Shafran in a set of images where she attempts to do a handstand. Kate wears a vintage sweatshirt from What Goes Around Comes Around in the studio snaps with set design by Jesse Kaufman of Frank Reps.
Kate in Antonio Berardi – Last night Kate Upton attended the 50th Anniversary Celebrationt for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit issue, and the blonde bombshell certainly looked striking while wearing a black gown from Antonio Berardi. Kate, who recently appeared in a retro-inspired shoot for V Magazine, paired the look with jewelry from David Yurman and Dior.
Upton Opens up to V – Following up her super sexy peek-a-boo cover, some quotes from Kate Upton’s V Magazine have been released and among them she addresses the recent Victoria’s Secret slam from the show’s casting director who said she would never fit in at a VS show and had the “kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy”. Ouch!
Kate on V Magazine – The spring preview cover of V Magazine taps model of the moment Kate Upton wearing a denim bodysuit by Diesel. Photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the American beauty gets styled by Nicola Formichetti. The cover features a special acetate pull-back feature which when removed reveals Kate in a sexy bikini. 2014 seems to already be off to a good start for the buxom blonde with her upcoming acting debut in “The Other Woman”, fresh off of last year’s Vanity Fair and Vogue covers.
