Jil Sander Fall 2014–Back in October, Jil Sander abruptly announced that she was leaving her eponymous label. Without a creative director in place, the fall-winter 2014 show had to go on, and it did so with an outing of sleek minimalism made by the house’s design team. The color palette for the season is fairly soothing–there is plenty of black, pink, grey and light blue. Deceptively simple dresses are decorated with unexpected folds and pleats as well as asymmetric hemlines. Coats are sculpted with high collars and no embellishments while wedged heels are the shoe of choice for the Sander woman’s fall.

Sander Leaves Label – German designer Jil Sander has decided to exit her namesake brand once again after designing for three seasons. She first left in 2000 to return to designing in 2003 and then exited again in 2004. Sander was re-instated at the helm after Raf Simons went to Dior in 2012. Her last collection which showed at spring-summer 2014 Milan Fashion Week, featured her trademark minimalism. WWD reports that the move is for personal reasons. As for the upcoming fall-winter collection; it will be designed by the in-house team. A replacement has yet to be named.
Sander’s New Minimalism – After taking back the helm of her label over a year ago, designer Jil Sander’s eponymous label showed a strong outing of minimalist fashion for spring 2014. The silhouettes while not overly clingy embraced feminine shapes with a focus on the waistline as shown by the inclusion of crop tops and high-waisted skirts. A minimalist color palette calls for white and black as well as your rare pastel hue. Print was embraced with a series of multi-colored abstract shapes. Sander’s signature coats are worn over cropped trousers as well as chunky platforms and sandals.
Focus on Fall – Edie Campbell lands yet another fall campaign this season with the latest advertisements from Jil Sander. Campbell also appears in ads for Marc Jacobs and Lanvin. Shot by David Sims, the British model stars in black and white studio snaps focusing on autumn’s tweed, leather and ladylike silhouettes.
The Return of Jil – The February issue of Vogue Russia spotlights the spring 2013 collection from Jil Sander designed by the label’s founder after an eight-year-long hiatus. Kinga Rajzak (Exit Model Management) poses for Emma Tempest in studio images reflecting the minimal aesthetic of the season. Mirror, Mirror – Captured by Nikolay Biryukov, Dasha Z is hauntingly classic in these black and white images lensed for our latest exclusive. Wearing a wardrobe of Jil Sander, La Perla and Prada styled by Olya Kuryschchuk; the blonde beauty enchants as she stares at her equally stunning reflection. Beauty artist Marina Keri is responsible for Dasha’s perfectly curled coif and ultra-glam makeup.
Lady in White – Actress Kristen Stewart covers the June issue of Elle UK wearing an all white ensemble from Jil Sander’s spring collection. The new issue hits newsstands on May 2nd.
Raf’s Farewell to Jil Sander – With news of Raf Simons’ departure from Jil Sander hitting this week (and a possible move to Dior), fall 2012 marks the last season that the Belgian designer will be known as creative director of the German label. It only seems fitting that his final season featured an expert showing of minimal, ladylike clothing which the house has become well-known for while under his direction. A color palette of powder pink, nude, ivory, scarlet and black set a classically refined tone for the new season. Simons also introduced his own take on well-known shapes with a play on proportion and color.
As one chapter closes, another one opens. Designer Jil Sander is set to take over her namesake label once again with Simons’ departure, and it will certainly be interesting to see what her vision is for the label’s future.
The Sisterhood – Raf Simons draws inspiration from elite college life with Jil Sander’s pre-fall 2012 collection. Photographer Ben Weller captures models Katie Fogarty, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Karolina Mrozkova, Tilda Lindstam, Katya Konstantinova, Janice Seinen Alida and others in a common room setting where they study, play card games and chat. The collection has all the trappings of an ivy league wardrobe–cardigans, monogrammed sweaters, tweed skirts and lush coats all conjure up images of academic elegance for the new season.
Jil Sander Movie – Natasha Poly and Daria Strokous are enlisted for the spring 2012 campaign from Jil Sander. Photographed by Willy Vanderperre with styling by Olivier Rizzo, the duo looks like they belong in a classic horror film with creepy shadows and fifties inspired silhouettes.
