Donna Karan Fall 2014–Dark and sensual. These are the two main ideas of Donna Karan’s fall-winter 2014 collection which also happens to mark the label’s 30th anniversary. The dark mainly comes from a color palette of inky black with rare pops of seductive red. Sensuality comes from the slinky silhouettes that embrace the feminine form. Karan’s tailoring is out in full force with the collection’s opening which showcases belted jackets with a slightly Eastern inspired cut. Outerwear looks to fur coats as well as cinched parkas for the fall season. For evening wear, the Karan woman wears show stopping gowns with flowing fabric and high slits–a great look for just about any red carpet event.
Adriana Returns for Donna Karan – Brazilian top model Adriana Lima is back once again for the spring-summer 2014 campaign from Donna Karan. Throwback Donna Karan – This Thursday, we’re taking a look back at Donna Karan’s fall 2008 campaign. The images star supermodel Kate Moss photographed by Mert & Marcus on location at Union Station in Los Angeles. The advertisements are dark and seductive, with inspiration cited as the Orient Express. Fast forward to today, and Donna Karan’s latest campaign continues with a sensual theme, featuring Catherine McNeil.
Resort in the City – Catherine McNeil is back once again as the face of Donna Karan, appearing in the label’s resort 2014 advertising campaign. The Australian model poses for Lachlan Bailey in the advertisements and a cashmere mailer for the season. With the backdrop of a New York City skyline, Catherine looks ever the picture of elegance in the new campaign.
Donna Karan’s Safari Woman – For spring 2014, Donna Karan looked towards a mix of safari and tribal style for inspiration. With an outing of loose-fitting dresses and skirts, the palette for this collection told a story of earthy tones with deep indigos, neutral nudes and sunny oranges. Layering is key for the Donna Karan woman this season with lightweight jackets and oversized mens shirts. The jungle influence did not just stop there; maxi dresses in natural shades bring an undeniable glamour to the practical yet luxe spring line.
Donna Karan Resort – For her resort 2014 collection, designer Donna Karan focused on separate pieces that toe the line between business casual and beach outing. Tunics in fluid and bohemian shapes showed off a more relaxed side of the Donna Karan woman. Tailored blazers and jackets added structure to chiffon, asymmetrical hemmed skirts and dresses. Karan’s color palette focused on neutral hues such as white, black and tan with the occasional pop of red. Evening wear introduced rich gold and navy hues for a glamorous take on nighttime style. / Photos by Seth Sabal
