Michael Kors Spring 2012 | New York Fashion Week

Kors’ Safari Spring – Michael Kors took a trip on an African safari for his spring 2012 collection unveiled during New York Fashion Week today. The American designer gave his sportswear an edge with animal and tribal prints, frayed edges and python accents. Using a warm color palette of mustard, nude, marmalade and tan, the Kors’ woman takes a walk on the wild side for the new season.

i usually like michael kors’ collections, but this one’s just bad. i don’t like any of the pieces at all, except for probably that zebra-printed dress hanne is wearing.

I’m not too fond of the theme per se, but this is the most cohesive N.Y. show so far for Spring 2012.  Everything just works together & the collection looks like some serious thought went into it.  Also, the models look good & it’s a treat to see some of them smiling.

The models look healthier than before. Not the greatest fan of the collection, though.

AFRICA IS A COUNTRY: http://africasacountry.com/2011/09/15/safari-suits/#more-31512As  Hadley Freeman described, this is “gap year-esque fare” following the “eternally popular and eternally misguided theme of “safari”,” which  ended up looking “like something designed solely for a magazine fashion shoot in Africa, probably starring Angelina Jolie lounging decorously on a designer handbag while gazing soulfully at some noble tribesmen.” This serves as an ominous note of reminder to Armani et al, not to pick “Africa” as a theme for their lackluster runway shows. Or to our pal Bono and his spouse, Ali Hewson, who like to get paid for being photographed, gallivanting about on savannas wearing her clothing line, porting “handmade” Vuitton leather goods. Edun, Hewson’s “ethical”  fashion line, includes a “kikoy” scarf, a “camel print” dress, and a “giraffe print basic tee in dusty brown” – precisely the kind of thing Kors should avoid like hellfire.

scorpio   i’m not a fan of this colllection “might” have some place in the fall collection.  one or two pieces in military  or safari would be good but drab green and bieges. kate spade’s glorius bright pallette for spring is a wonderful sight; don’t like the designs that much.

as for the african styles and colors look to the tribes and country. a myriad of colors and fabrics which should featured in an african collection.  oh
