Joan on Self–Top model Joan Smalls lands the October cover of Self Magazine. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, the model is all long lines and elegant curves in bodysuit looks styled by Melissa Ventosa Martin. In the interview she opens up her diet routine and being diagnosed with Scoliosis at 14. “The lower half of my spine was inside out,” she says. “I started crying. I couldn’t believe that was inside my body.” But she worked through it. “I’m not going to use this as a handicap. I’m going to push myself harder,” she told herself. And now Joan has gone on to cover Vogue US and become a face of Estee Lauder.
