    • Well, what you described is a very Western standard of “hunkiness.” His physique and overall appearance clearly align with Asian standards.

      • Nothing is more Western than the attribution of convenient non-threatening “standards” to Asia.
Regarding muscularity compare for example this model’s physique to that of Bruce Lee, an Asian icon.
And obviously it’s the typical white Western man who is genetically the least tan in the world.

  1. I’m confused about the afro. I’m constantly baffled by fashion’s fascination with elements of black culture and their refusal to actually use black models.

That said, who would’ve thought that there would come a day when I saw the exposed backside of a man in a Chinese magazine?

    • What refusal to use black models? afro hair IS beautiful, why not try it out on others than african people? why should being asian, european, australian, latino- or american stop you from getting a hair look of another nationality?
God, I’d never think people were so judgemental these days.

  2. i absolutely love this. the cinematic, slightly surreal feeling of the editorial heightens the naturalness of the clothes and brings out the emotions of the models. i especially love the old chinese gangster film references, and that shot of the beach is almost as good as kurosawa itself.

  3. Am in LOVE with this! Both of them are beautiful (hello backside!) and Du Juan looks so funky in the afro. She is definitely my #1 favorite Asian model and third only to Daria and Gemma.
