          She is beautiful, I agree.
Out of all the VS models I think her and Alessandra have the most potential as high fashion models.
I just don’t think it works in this particular shoot.

It’s not that they have something against them (or at least I don’t), but girls like Lima, Candice, Kerr, and to some lesser extent, Aless, don’t have that intangible ability to create fascinating photographs using their emotions or body language… they are simply pretty. VS is just fine for them because they’re selling underwear, but when it comes to editorials, there needs to be that extra connection to the clothes and the feel of the shoot. Lima is used to relying on her looks rather than using any modeling skill. Now, whether you personally believe that modeling is a skill and not just simply based on looks is another story altogether.

Quite honestly, I think that she emotes pretty goddamn well in this shoot. She has a hell of a lot more facial expressions than high fashion models who rely on their “unique” gap-tooth slightly-agape mouth expression in every shot. At least there’s some variety, and she’s also hot as hell which doesn’t hurt.
Also, Liu Wen, Chanel Iman, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Bambi Northwood Blyth, Behati Prinsloo, and Erin Heatherton are all examples of high fashion models who model for VS as well. I think that the point of modeling is relying on your looks, and being able to do things with them to sell a product and create an editorial story. The reason great models are so highly paid is because they are able to do this.
Alessandra and Adriana have both done some great, softer high fashion eds in the past year that are truly wonderful. I will agree that this is not the best.

I will agree, but to a lesser extent. Yes VS models tend to be quite commercial. They are very “obviously” pretty, and its kinda hard to translate that into edge and high-fashion editorial, but we should not limit them to what they can do. I think there is room for everyone. Variety is very nice. We can get our dose of beautiful but edgy girls, and we can also have simply pretty girls, and there is nothing wrong with that.

My main critique for VS models is when they try little too hard. I always thought Kerr and Ambrosio ALWAYS tried so hard to be edgy and it just doesnt work.
Other than that, I seriously have no bad words for ANY models, because they are ALL beautiful.

“Incapable”? Yea, which is why she’s one of the more famous models that appeals to both men and women. Women want to look like her, and men want to be with her. Incapable? I think not.

We “diss” VS models, because they appeal to men as well. I seriously dont know ANY guy who will find Kerr, Lima or Gisele unattractive.

A lot of models these days seem to lack personality, with you I will agree on that. But a lot of girls and women that are high fashion can convey their personality wonderfully while at the same time having that certain something about them that is strange and intriguing. You said that VS models have “hot bodies” and a lot of them do but let’s be honest, Chanel Iman is one of the skinniest, least curvy models working today and she just became a VS angel, nothing wrong with that I enjoy her commercial and high fashion work, but it was just worth pointing out that she’s an angel not because of her body so much but more so her face and yes, personality.

I’ve never liked Adriana Lima, I always thought she was ugly when compared to other models. But I think she looks quite stunning in this and for a photographer to actually change what I think about a certain model, that must be mean he’s done a great job even though I also dislike Bartelt’s work.

She does look beautiful here, there’s no doubt about that, but she isn’t good at doing high fashion. There’s a reason why models are seperated into high fashion and commercial and it’s because the two different types of modelling require different things, hence why some VS models aren’t particuarly good at high fashion modelling and visa-versa. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it is what is, she looks stunning, but she isn’t good at high fashion. Simple as that.

I think some of you are being quite overly critical, and a bit biased. Im glad that we have VS models. While still skinny, they atleast have some breasts, hips and ass, which is nigh-fashion is just unheard of.

There is room in modeling world for both Freja AND Adriana, and there is nothing wrong with that.

As far as this editorial is concerned, I think she looks beautiful, her hair is great, clothes are full with movement and texture, and the only BAD thing is, those spider eyelashes. SERIOUSLY stylists, STOP using Kim Kardashian techinque! Please!

That pink dress is Dior I believe. I think its even from Spring 2010 collection. Im kinda curious why they chose past season dress in the current issue magazine.

Yep, I was right, it is Spring 2010

Then again, that collection was FAR MORE superior than the current one, so no wonder they choose it.

I guess you’re not really buying magazines that often to say such thing.

But anyway, we are NOT full of ourselves. The public of Vogue Brasil is the upper Brazilian class so you would agree that we are very much aware that our society still has to develop in many ways (case you didn’t notice). And we feel FRUSTRATED to see so many things going wrong.. When there’s a reason that makes us PROUD of our nationality, we take it. Even if it is having beautiful women.. And that’s why we appreciate them so much, and I see no wrong in doing so.

I guess you’re not really buying magazines that often to say such thing.

There is a reason models are separated in to high fashion/ commercial. So unfortunate mix ups like this do not happen. All you can stare at, is how gorgeous her face is – the clothes end up looking like a clowns costume on her…

It was suppose to look like a clown. Pierrô means clown in portuguese.

There is no question that Adriana is beautiful but she looks very robotic here. Something is off and this shoot does not scream high fashion.

After years of seeing Adriana as a VS model; this is a little off-putting. I almost feel as if she doesn’t look like herself? She’s gorgeous nonetheless. Just as seeing Gisele in editorial again threw me for a loop, it’ll just take a few more shoots to get used to it.
