PR maven Kelly Cutrone has some harsh words about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. In a New York Daily News article she is quoted as saying, “I don’t think there’s one person who really works in the fashion industry who gives a flying f**k about Kanye West,” in response as to whether she sees Kanye as influential. Kelly also had some blunt words about his wife, Kim Kardashian and her family. “I think they have no influence in the fashion world whatsoever,” she says. “I mean, most people who watch the Kardashians’ (reality show) can’t afford Givenchy.”
Kelly did however admit that the pair have a cultural impact such as their very controversial Vogue cover and highly buzzed about wedding. The “America’s Next Top Model” judge criticized Kim for her lack of fashion forward looks as well. “The truth of the matter is that Kim Kardashian is not doing anything fresh in fashion, either. She’s not getting into the nitty-gritty, super avant-garde players. She’s not even wearing [Vivienne] Westwood yet.”
Whoa, harsh words! Do you think that Kim and Kanye have an influence on fashion or are they just known for their names?
Who cares. In fashion they are trite nobodies. At best Kanye is a dullard with some particular talents but an over-inflated ego does not a man make. As to Kim, it is all but impossible to work out who she actually is.
