Kenzo Fall 2014–Designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon teamed up with director David Lynch for Kenzo’s fall-winter 2014 runway presentation. The American creative made the soundtrack and set designs for the show that debuted pieces inspired by his work for the 90s television drama “Twin Peaks” which is know for its mysterious and supernatural elements. For fall, the Kenzo designers played with proportion–juxtaposing full and pleated skirts with knit sweaters or tops with origami-like folds and slimline pants. The color palette embraces black, grey, citron green and burnt orange. The Kenzo woman also sports her own version of a suit for autumn–a quilt patterned three piece in black adds an androgynous touch to the season.
Kenzo Pre-Fall 2014 – Designers Humberto Lim and Carol Leon focus on making everyday wear for the modern woman with Kenzo’s pre-fall 2014 collection. The silhouette this season focuses on outerwear with a fluid shape with feminine draping. Black and white is disrupted with vibrant colors such as citrus yellow, Kenzo green, fuchsia and sapphire. The Kenzo woman also embraces abstract prints, neon plaids and linear shapes.
Icon Wear – Known for its sweaters with graphic prints, Kenzo has launched a new capsule collection featuring a tiger, Eiffel Tower and eye symbol for the Christmas and holiday season. Available in boutiques and on Kenzo.com this December, the prices for the sweater are priced at €245.
Fashion for Fish – With a spring-summer 2014 collection influenced by the ocean and fish, Kenzo uses that same inspiration for its new advertising campaign starring Devon Aoki. Made in collaboration with arts magazine TOILERPAPER, Devon can be seen lounging on a giant fish held up by male model Paul Boche. This surreal image ties back to the whimsy of Kenzo’s fall advertisements which featured models as miniature dolls and flying on a giant manicured hand.
Kenzo: Back to Blue – Inspired by the ocean and open water for spring 2014, Kenzo designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim showcased a collection of sea colors and patterns for their latest outing. Since taking over in 2012, the design duo has introduced a new energy and youthfulness to the brand and it was evident in the new season’s contemporary, slightly street inspired clothing. Various shades of blue, monochrome black and white, and scarlet red dominated the spring color palette.
The water reference even got literal with crop tops and skirts ending in wave-shaped finishes. Jackets embraced boxy shoulders while trousers and skirts are cropped at the calf and sometimes feature slits. On her feet, the Kenzo woman wears heeled sandals while carrying large, oversized clutches made with prints which match her clothing.

Eyes on Fall – Kenzo collaborated with the creative trio Maurizio Cattelan, Micol Talso and Pierpaolo Ferrari behind arts magazine TOILETPAPER for its fall 2013 campaign. The advertisements star Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi and male model Sean O’Pry in surreal situations including flying on a perfectly manicured hand, donning eye-shaped cutouts and posing as pin dolls. Ferrari lensed the colorful images with a focus on the brand’s accessories.
