Gaga on Bazaar–Pop star Lady Gaga lands on the March cover of Harper’s Bazaar US, wearing a look from Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane. The singer and face of Versace poses for long time collaborator Terry Richardson for the cover story. Inside the new issue, Gaga opens up about her legacy, issues with food and depression. March’s Bazaar hits stores in the US on February 18th.
On how she thinks people in the future will think about fashion now:
LG: I’m not sure. I imagine that there will be a revival of some of these aesthetics—the more bold ones. Those who have watered down themselves for “sale” might make money now, but they are shortchanging their legend. I always think to myself, How do I want
to be remembered? I don’t want to be remembered as anything but brave. The only good intention to make money is to help others. I want to be Oprah. I want to be Melinda Gates. If I ever sell products other than my talents, then it will be to give more to others.

In the main editorial photographed by Alexi Lubomirski, the blonde star wears dazzling spring looks from the likes of Givenchy, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen and Fendi. Despite wearing all these glamorous designs, Kate tells the magazine that she doesn’t buy that much high end clothing. “People think we own all these dresses,” she says, “but we borrow them! I can’t afford to buy that stuff. There are certain things I splurge on, but it’s very rare, especially when you have two kids and school tuition. I’m not a big high-end fashion shopper. I wish I could but the truth is things are just so expensive.”

Terry Richardson photographed the pop icon in daring fashions featuring a lot of leather and black looks. In the magazine, Madonna opens up about her early days in New York City, “This wasn’t anything I prepared for in Rochester, Michigan. Trying to be a professional dancer, paying my rent by posing nude for art classes, staring at people staring at me naked. Daring them to think of me as anything but a form they were trying to capture with their pencils and charcoal. I was defiant. Hell-bent on surviving. On making it. But it was hard and it was lonely, and I had to dare myself every day to keep going.”
