American Vogue’s highly anticipated “The Faces of the Moment” cover features Liya Kebede, Anna Jagodzinska, Natalia Vodianova, (front cover) Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Jourdan Dunn, Raquel Zimmermann, Caroline Trentini & Natasha Poly (pull out) by Steven Meisel.
This exceeds my expectations by a mile. Of course I would have loved to see other models like Maryna or Sasha, but it is definitely better than having another celebrity on the cover.

American Vogue’s May 2009 cover will feature the industry’s “top models”. Past issues have included Claudia Schiffer, Karen Elson and Gisele Bündchen. Who are the nine girls we can expect to see this year?
Model: Anna Jagodzinska
Facts: Made a comeback in spring/summer 2009 season after taking a break from modeling. Landed campaigns for Chanel, CK Jeans and Chloe.
Lara Stone has two features by Angelo Pennetta in the newly launched, Love Magazine.
Willy Vanderrperre photographed Lara Stone in a black and white series for T Magazine. Amazingly so, we don’t get to see any “disclosure” from Ms. Stone as the title suggests.
Both of these recent Numéro Tokyo and Vogue Nippon covers disappoint me. First, you have Claudia Schiffer in this stiff and awkward pose that does her beauty no justice. Then you have Lara Stone on the cover of Vogue Nippon which isn’t a bad photo bad in itself, but the giant “G” in front of her face is quite distracting. However, I do like the styling. It’s very western chic.
Now, an example of a good cover is this Elle Netherlands (March) one with Sophie Vlaming. The text isn’t too busy or cluttered, and if I saw this in the store I would be interested in flipping through the content.
Willy Vanderperre took some stunning model portraits in Another Magazine‘s Spring/Summer 2009 issue. His use of lighting in several particular shots is fantastic.
Lara Stone has really been growing on me lately, so I thought I would share some of my appreciation with this set from Vogue Paris. The cowboy boots kill me though; they are a complete eye sore.
February’s W features ‘Le Chic’ by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. At first I wasn’t too impressed with the previews I came across. However, after looking at the magazine in person and seeing the work as a whole, I can’t help but enjoy this. Each model has something unique to bring to the table but it’s Anna Maria and Edita who truly own this ed. The duo is also featured in a second spread by Craig McDean, entitled ‘ESP’.
Warning: there is nudity after the cut.
