Sander’s Minimal 50s – For spring 2012, Jil Sander designer Raf Simons was inspired by a modern look at the 1950s with an opening featuring a parade of white, clean lined dresses. Simons also brought some color onto the runway with paisley and abstract prints, sheer plaid, gingham and a few spring brights. The new season makes a bridge between the classic and the new with perforated dresses, proportion play and a new spin on the veiled hat.
Jil’s Leading Lady–Daria Strokous snags another season with Jil Sander, starring in the label’s fall 2011 campaign, lensed by Willy Vanderperre. Shot under the creative direction of Raf Simons, Daria is styled by Olivier Rizzo. Finding herself all out of sorts, fall’s campaign reflects the geometric nature of a wonderful autumn outing from Simons.
Minimalist gone maximalist can be the description used for Jil Sander’s fall 2011 collection which followed in the vein of spring’s couture shapes and bold hues. Fall seemed a bit more sporty, however, with sweater knits and more sleek silhouettes inspired by Diane Arbus and 1950s ski-wear. Models walked down the catwalk with slicked back hair, red lips and blue eyeshadow for a showing of understated elegance.
Valerija Kelava stars in the spring 2011 campaign from Jil Sander Navy. Lensed by David Sims and featuring a juxtaposition of the masculine and feminine, the monochromatic and color for the new season, Valerija sports the label’s minimal ensembles with a messy hair and a laid-back attitude.
After a runway show of mass proportions and bright colors, the spring 2011 campaign from Jil Sander once again enlists Willy Vanderperre to a shoot a campaign that uses lighting to its advantage. Featuring Daria Strokous, the advertisements place focus on the collection’s striped accessories and bold palette.
Raquel Zimmermann stars as the face of Jil Sander + Uniqlo’s fall 2010 campaign photographed by David Sims. Ready for the fall in heavy coats and jackets, Raquel is a mix of classic elegance and modern sleekness.
Moving away from a normally minimal aesthetic, Jil Sander lengthens and widens its silhouette for spring 2011. Finding inspiration in fitted tops paired with billowing bottoms, creative director Raf Simons also plays with color, contrasting and blocking brights with darker hues. Also included were stripe prints and floral patterns. Despite this move in a seemingly new direction, the Sander woman still maintains her sleek and clean look for the time being.
Photographer and stylist duo, Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo, return to create some magic for the fall 210 campaign from Jil Sander. Starring Miranda Kerr and Kasia Struss, the advertisements put a focus on the label’s sharp tailoring and clean aesthetic with Vanderperre’s signature style.
