DSquared2 Fall 2014–A psych ward circa the 1960s served as the inspiration for DSquared2′s fall-winter 2014 collection. Designers Dean and Dan Caten focused on a mod silhouette which is sleek and fitted to the body with short hemlines hitting above the thigh. Models were escorted by nurses in white capes and matching helmet hats. The Catens presented other sixties styles including but not limited to swing coats, colorful trenches, shift dresses and color-blocking elements. Accessories also played up the collection’s theme–bejeweled ankle and wrist cuffs were joined by neck chokers for the latest in hospital chic.
DSquared2′s Tropical Spring–For its spring-summer 2014 campaign, DSquared2′s Dean and Dan Caten enlist up and comer Luma Grothe for a tropical-themed set lensed by Mert & Marcus. Shot on location in Los Angeles, Luma enchants in the label’s dramatic shapes, cat-eye shaped sunglasses and seasonal colors while posing against a waterfall backdrop.
Throwback DSquared2 – For its spring 2009 campaign, fashion brand DSquared2 tapped supermodels Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista for a high fashion rumble. The fierce duo fought in headgear, gowns and trench coats lensed by Steven Meisel. Fast forward to today, and the supers are still landing major advertisements including Roberto Cavalli, Chanel and Tommy Hilfiger.
DSquared2′s Bombshell Spring – DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten looked towards 1950s bombshells for inspiration with their spring 2014 collection. Hourglass shapes and retro glam beachwear dominated the catwalk for a playful take on summer fashion. Of course a day out at the beach calls for your requisite accessories including wide-brimmed hats, large-framed sunglasses and high-waisted bikini bottoms. While daywear focused on mostly skin-baring swimsuits, the evening brought full, pleated skirts nipped at the waist and tops with sweetheart necklines.
Behind the Mirror – DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten star in the official campaign film for their label’s spring 2013 campaign. Filmed by Mert & Marcus, the twins star in a black and white ode to Alfred Hitchcock with an androgynous, gender bending twist.
Lady Sings the Blues – Inspired by the practicality and glamour of the forties, DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten created angular silhouettes for their label’s pre-fall 2013 collection. Model Jasmine Tookes dons a mix of high-waisted pencil skirts, daywear jackets and menswear inspired tailoring reinterpreted with the DSquared2 aesthetic. Ultra-feminine looks in shades of lilac, carrot, rouge, sand, black and ruby-red place an emphasis on body conscious silhouettes. For evening wear, the DSquared2 woman gets ready to hit the town in floor-length silk chiffon and crêpe gowns.
Ultimate Scream – DSquared2 taps Cara Delevingne for a short film to accompany its resort 2013 collection featuring 90s style with a biker edge. In the video directed by Senio Zapruder, Cara gets a mysterious call set to the track of “Scream Miami” remixed by Stefano Riva.
Biker Couture – DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten were inspired by the decade of glamour and grunge, the nineties, for their resort 2013 collection. Model Cara Delevingne plays a strong female lead in nautical inspired denim, bustiers, mini skirts and cropped pants. Posing in biker couture looks, Cara waits by a pay phone in flirtatious ensembles sure to catch any guy’s eye. School Mates – Sticking with the runway show’s theme of a sixties prom, the fall 2012 campaign from DSquared2 takes place in a high school classroom setting, lensed by Mert & Marcus. Models Daphne Groeneveld, Bette Franke, Frida Aasen and male models Simon Van Meervenne and Liuk Bass are casual in denim, knit sweaters and decorated eyewear styled by Katie Grand. / Art direction by Giovanni Bianco, Hair by Paul Hanlon, Makeup by Charlotte Tilbury
DSquared2′s Teenage Dream – Well known for collections with quirky themes, the fall 2012 showing from DSquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten went back in time for their own take on 1960′s high school fashions. Opening with modified versions of the pencil skirt, knitted cardigan and cigarette pants, models walked the runway with cigarettes in gloved hands and teased tresses. A color palette of powder pink, forest green, canary yellow and light blue transformed into black as the Catens took on evening wear or “prom fashions”. Black, slinky gowns adorned with jewelry and sparkling sequins closed the show for a more sumptuous take on the upcoming autumn.
