At a recent talk at the Savannah College of Art and Design on Tuesday, designer Alexander Wang revealed that when Paris fashion house Balenciaga offered him the job of creative director, he initially declined. According to Fashionista, it took the company taking him on a visit to the couturier’s archive to change his mind. It was so highly secure that “they had to shut down the security cameras” to keep his visit a secret, says Wang. “Seeing the archive in person, as a creative person when you see something like that it puts sparks into you.”

At midnight EST time earlier today, the news broke that Alexander Wang was the latest designer collaboration for H&M. Now, more information has been released about the highly anticipated collection thanks to an official press release. The line will launch on November 6th and will be made available in 250 H&M stores worldwide. The range features apparel for women and men as well as accessories. As the creative director of Balenciaga, Alexander Wang told WWD his thoughts on fast fashion, saying, “It’s a different era and a different world today and I think everything is changing, the whole system of fashion and design and I think there’s an opportunity for everyone to create and do something that is different and individual. I think it’s a really interesting thing and how it all correlates to the industry and how it’s all evolving.”

Beats by Dre x Alexander Wang Beats Pill
Alexander Wang for Beats–One of the biggest names in fashion right now, Alexander Wang, has teamed up with Beats by Dre for an exclusive capsule collection of music accessories. The designs are out now in the UK and are available as Studio Headphones, the Beats Pill and UrBeats Earphones. Limited edition, the designs come in matte black with pale gold detailing and an embossed stingray case. Also, make sure to see Wang’s fall-winter 2014 collection shown during New York Fashion Week.
Alexander Wang Fall 2014–For his first runway show set in Brooklyn, Alexander Wang opened with a somber utilitarian vibe featuring grey over coats with boxy silhouettes. But it was not all gloomy. Wang’s fall-winter 2014 outing transformed into the more sporty aesthetic he is well known for with sweaters in neon green and sporty trousers with slouchy shapes. High tech effects were shown for the finale with an array of all black looks which changed into vibrant hues once hit with a heat vent–see Karlie Kloss’ purple jacket and shorts look for an example. Overall, the Wang woman keeps her cool factor with a look towards the future for the new season.
Alexander Wang’s Provocative Spring – For his spring-summer 2014 campaign, Alexander Wang taps model Anna Ewers for a cheeky image lensed by Steven Klein. In the photo, Ewers poses in a bathroom wearing a top decorated with a parental advisory label styled by Karl Templer. Another image revealed shows two pairs of shoes in corresponding bathroom stalls.
Alexander Wang Spring – The minimalism trend has been taking over New York Fashion Week, and the one designer who has embraced this aesthetic for several seasons is Alexander Wang. His spring 2014 collection offers androgynous styles of open button-up tees and jumpsuits modified as dresses. The color palette this season is understated with black and white and other neutral hues.
Wang also showcases a graphic pattern of his logo replicated on tops and belts as well as cheeky shirts that read “Parental Advisory Explicit Content” across the models’ chest. Rounding out the showing are pleated skirts ranging from mini to midi-length while shorts are juxtaposed with menswear inspired shirts. Overall, the spring line certainly proves that Wang still has his cool factor.
T Craziness – Alexander Wang teamed up with “Jawbreaker” director Darren Stein for a social experiment. Unsuspecting fans were invited to a secret event for fall 2013 T by Alexander Wang collection. In a video message from the designer, it was revealed that they could get free clothes from the T by Alexander Wang collection. Everything was free to grab and like expected, mayhem ensued. Watch the film to see people going bananas over Wang’s clothes.
Cartable in Forest Green
Le Dix – As the new creative director of Balenciaga, Alexander Wang unveiled a mysterious fall campaign, and now we get to see the first handbag line from the designer. Titled “Le Dix”, the fall 2013 collection of accessories is sleek, understated and simple. Wang looked towards the brand’s archives for inspiration, with the “Le Dix” name reflecting the house’s first fragrance and the original Balenciaga salon on 10 Avenue George V. Prices for the line start at $995.00 and go up to $2,250.00 for the largest size.
Cinematic Fall – After appearing in the brand’s previous advertisements, Malgosia Bela returns for another season as the face of Alexander Wang’s fall 2013 campaign. The Polish model once again poses for Steven Klein, this time in a dramatic black and white image with a cinematic effect. Camilla Nickerson from Vogue US worked as stylist on the shoot while creative direction was left to Pascal Dangin. Check out the “Confessional” video below, which chronicles Malgosia’s journey as a model.
