Neo-Classic Couture – For Chanel’s spring 2013 haute couture collection, creative director Karl Lagerfeld went for a neo-classical look featuring the houses’s signature tweeds with glittering sequin detailing. The press kit images, also photographed by Lagerfeld, star model Marte Mei Van Haaster in elongated silhouettes and embroidered patterns.

Color Blocked Pre-FallVionnet offers an elegant outing of color-blocking and bias cuts for its pre-fall 2013 collection. Inspired by the work of French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, the transitional season is based in a color palette of black and white with accents of emerald-green, sapphire, sea-foam and burgundy. Modeled by Hedvig Palm, the shapes are a mix of masculine and feminine with fluid draping and sculpted shoulders. Fabrics are rich, including duchesse satin, cady and sable crepes as well as fur trimmings and gold embroideries. Shoes and bags echo back to Vionnet’s founding with subtle bias and diagonal cuts in suede, leather, crocodile and satin for a luxurious touch.

Neutral State – Photographer David Cohen de Lara captures Ania Yudina in a wardrobe of lightweight pieces featuring neutral shades ranging from eggshell to nude. With art direction by Bianca Manzana de Agustin, Ania poses on the Spanish coast, wearing ethereal selects from the likes of Yolanda Cris, Gori de Palma and Andrés Sarda styled by April Jumelet. A natural look courtesy of beauty artist Vannessa Chan completes the blonde’s understated outing.

The MPS Graduate Fashion Photography department is an intensive one-year degree program offering practicing photographers the opportunity to advance their bodies of work under the guidance of photographers, editors, creative directors and digital retouchers working at the forefront of fashion today, and in partnership with the CFDA ‘Incubators’ program. Bridging the gap between “high” and “low” culture, commercial and fine art photography, still and moving images, the program is dedicated to exploiting the full potential of fashion photography as a platform for invention, creativity and subversion.
