So with all the excitement of the engagement and planning for the wedding, you probably aren’t thinking beyond these milestones yet. But you most certainly have thought about the honeymoon, that fun event after your wedding that often means sleeping a lot, enjoying quality time with your partner, and seeing some fantastic sights.

We’ve many guides on how to get hitched, from finding that perfect wedding ring to buying the most amazing cake, but now we are throwing ourselves into creating the ultimate honeymoon guide for 2022 and beyond!

Planning the Dream Honeymoon

When you dream, budgets and restraints do not limit you. You can imagine the perfect moment, and it will all be sunshine and rainbows, but when it comes to the real deal, you’ll discover, like with planning a wedding, you’ll need to focus on what is possible. So first, work out where you both want to go, what you can afford, and how long you want this getaway to last. From there, it will all slowly fall into place.

Working Out the Honeymoon Budget

Like with your wedding, think about how much you can afford and whether you want an expensive honeymoon or something not to void you of the rest of your savings. You can get a loan, but perhaps if you reach that stage, you should hold off going away until you can afford to get away without acquiring debt. Of course, you don’t have to get away as soon as you are married! We all know of couples who went months, even years, later.

Where to Go for the Honeymoon?

With money put aside for a moment, think about where you’d love to spend your honeymoon.

Are the beaches on a warm tropical island to your fancy? Perhaps a trip to the Caribbean, the Florida coast, or parts of the Pacific could be great options.

A European trip could be in the books if you’re into your history! Even just getting out of your town and going to a nearby resort or hotel could be enough to satisfy your itch for the most amazing honeymoon.

How Soon After a Wedding do You Go on the Honeymoon?

You can go on your honeymoon whenever you want! However, don’t feel pressured to go the day after your wedding if you need some time to ‘chill’ before committing yourself to another positionally emotionally intense experience. With the costs of weddings rising, more are starting to put off their honeymoons until they have saved up enough money and might go months or years later.

Is it Fine to Go Nowhere on a Honeymoon?

Yes, yes, and yes! For some people, the perfect holiday is going nowhere and spending valuable time in their own homes with those they love. Often life gets soo busy with work that we rarely have time to spend time and enjoy the fruits of our labors. Another benefit is you can spend time together, alone, with zero cost for relaxation.

Where are the Top Honeymoon Locations?

So you’re committing to follow your heart and see some of the world on your honeymoon? Fantastic, but where are some of the best places couples go?

  1. Paris, France.
  2. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
  3. Florida, USA.
  4. St. Lucia, Caribean.
  5. Santorini, Greece.
  6. Kauai, Hawai’i
  7. Florence, Italy.
  8. Prague, Czech Republic.
  9. Iceland.
  10. Zambia.

What to Do on a Honeymoon?

You can do many things on your honeymoon, or you can do nothing at all! Couples often sightsee, try delicious foods, enjoy romantic night walks, swim, snorkel, attend historical tours, and sleep until midday. You don’t even have to leave your hotel room to enjoy your honeymoon, as you can have table service, drink red wine in a shared spa, and wear cozy dressing robes. The important thing is to be there for each other and celebrate this time alone as you start your married life.

What to Eat on a Honeymoon?

The best rule for food on a honeymoon is to have no rules about what you can and cannot eat. If there are yummy fruits, you should be able to eat the whole bowl. If you want to eat, skip mains and go straight to dessert. Whatever you want to consume should be allowed because it’s all about relaxing, letting go, enjoying the moment, and being present with each other.

Final Remarks: The Ultimate Honeymoon Guide for 2022 and Beyond!

A honeymoon is a lot simpler than planning a wedding! The great thing is you don’t have to think about anyone else other than yourself and your partner. You can dress casually or, dare we also say that for some, clothes are optional, and all that is expected of you is that you enjoy this getaway. If you plan it so it suits your wishes and sticks to a budget, we can guarantee you’ll have a stress-free time and the holiday of your dreams as a newlywed couple.
