Photographer David Sims takes a trip throughout the ages for the all-American issue of Vogue US. With eras ranging from the flapper era to modern-day, Sims and fashion editor Tonne Goodman have their work cut out for them in the twelve page spread. Starring Lara Stone, Kasia Struss, Daria Werbowy, Raquel Zimmermann, Patricia van der Vliet, Liya Kebede, Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, Frida Gustavsson, Mirte Maas and Sasha Pivovarova, The American Experience gives a new take on classic looks with designs from the likes of Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan.

  5. Yeah, this is totally the American Experience what with the deliberate exclusion of minorities and conforming to procrustean standards of desirability. Thank you, Fashion Gone Rogue, once again for unquestioningly lapping up another fetid slosh from the cesspool of mainstream fashion.

  7. props to Tonne Goodman, the styling is incredible, resulting in something I (finally) find fresh and engaging out of US Vogue (although I would have loved to see a better Gibson Girl…they got the hair right, and I get what they're going for as far as the sportswear goes, it just doesn't do it for me). And, of course, Sasha kills it every time.
