  1. great story. i love the colors and the vibrance of the location. its refreshing to see a story where the model looks to be embracing her surroundings, rather than having the usual patronizing attitude that so many other “real people” stories seem to have.

  3. true…but still…when are they going to stop doing that?
makes local people feel awkward, they even did a shot like that in spain and I felt it was so weird, it’s such a “fake” view on a country.

    • I actually dont think thats a fake view, i’d say its actually a very truly one. I could totally get the vibe of the place and imagine myself there. I just think its kind of lame to show ONLY this view of Brazil, you know, like a poor and festive country. There’s so much more!

  4. i really feel that this type of shoot is so paradoxical as she is wearing such expensive clothes in a place that seems to be suffering in poverty
rather than just obtruding into these peoples daily lives to make pretty photos and have these people become part of the background, fashion teams wanting to make a real difference could start projects and make donations
this just seems like too big a contrast between high fashion and poverty to convince me that these people really care about the welfare of these people

  5. Amei as cores do Editorial.
O Brasil minha gente é o mundo!

I loved the colors of the Editorial Board. However, as in the above comments, do not know why they insist on showing a negative image about Brazil. I hope the beautiful scenery to be different editorials, Brazil is much more than Carnival, Rio de Janeiro and poverty. For those who can not have our land in a mixture of races, so in each state there is a different situation than some editorials insist on doing! For example, an editorial and rare scenario that you have with Sao Paulo and Florianopolis. The two cities are also wonderful as the Rio de Janeiro, clear that each has a different social context. So LOVE LIVING IN BRAZIL … We are blessed by God who has honored us with different cultures and have the opportunity to learn in one place! This is really wonderful.
The Brazil is the world folks! And as the world we share good and bad! So let’s stop and stare cliché that parents, not just only football or carnival. We have much more than that. We have the world. We have diversity of culture and especially experience with life. So we are happy and want to learn more and more with all this …

Aprendam a viver como os brasileiros e com os brasileiros, assim como nós vivemos com Italianos, Chineses e etc.

  7. As Sophie Vlaming explores the natural beauty of Brazil, she is not just a prop standing in front of a backdrop, but is captured as an independent, vivacious character exploring the local life of Sao Luis. Far from pretentious, the overall character of the story is authentic and extremely positive. A revolution of prints. A celebration of life and culture. Everything from the eye-catching patterns, to the warm nature of the model and the people of Sao Luis, are cohesively packaged. The community of Sao Luis, is directly connected with Sophie as she continues her exciting adventure. By uniting the local flavor and personality of Saio Luis with Sophie, Jean-François captures the essence of beauty. This story genuinely celebrates the life, culture, and color of Brazil.

  8. I love this story. It is warm and happy and I disagree with a lot of the comments that were made above. I don’t see a negative image of the country and the people here on the contrary. The model becomes part of the surroundings. She interacts with the population, the children etc…..Just because the kids wear flip flaps does not mean they are poor. There is no poverty here. I am not saying that there is no poverty in Brazil but these pictures are taken in a rural area and what we see are rural people. I agree with the comments above about cliches and I think these pictures are exactly the opposite. These are celebrating Brazil.

horrible attitude, expression, framing, posing…WOW!!! hard to do worst in my opinion.
none of the picture have a main character, they are simply impossible to read, cause they are saying nothing..
    what a waste of money!!
