A Scanner Darkly – Photographer Daniel Jackson captures an avant-garde editorial for the June issue of Dazed & Confused. Inspired by the works of fashion illustrator René Gruau, models Ava Smith, Codie Young, and Madison Headrick are transformed to look like rough drawings by make up artist Yadim. Stylist Karen Langley (Total Management) selects several minimalist pre-fall 2012 pieces from labels such as Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Céline to go with the simple aesthetics of the story. / Hair by Yannick D’Is

  1. I think the nudity actually gives them a fine art edge, as if they had been drawn from life in a studio art class

  2. I’m no fashion expert nor am I offended by nudity. I just wonder what the point of showing their breasts was. It didn’t add anything to the shots and just didn’t make sense to me. Either way, I didn’t care for it. With or without the nudity.

  3. I happen to love the make-up and it makes it look like the models face is a mask or a piece of paper which has been drawn on.
As to the nudity, I don’t get people who are offended by it. But what I do get, is people’s questioning of why it is in these pictures, which I have no idea about.

But I love the creativity and innovative take on the editorial.
