The birds are dead. How lame is that? Fail!
Have you never seen Hitchcock's 1963 movie "The Birds?" The birds that attack the lead actress in that movie were, in fact, taxidermy birds attached to strings. So, yeah, there is a reason behind why the birds used in this photo are also dead. Homage.
