With her appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show last month, supermodel Naomi Campbell talks the pros and cons of Instagirls–models who got their start on Instagram and other social media sites. “It’s amazing, I mean good luck to them I just feel my generation of women, like Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Claudia we had to earn our stripes and take our stepping stones to get to where we have gotten to accomplish to what we have achieved to this date,” Naomi told Meredith when asked about the rise of the social media model.

The British model who now appears on Fox’s hit new show, “Empire”, is known to speak her mind. And this interview is no exception!

When Meredith asked if it bothers her that this is now the way to become a popular model, Naomi replied with, I kind of feel like, ‘My God,’ it’s we’ve worked so hard and we are still working at it. Then it just comes like that for them but I sometimes believe easy come, easy go. I am actually grateful for the way I had my career I wouldn’t want it any other way so that’s for them, this is me.

  1. What’s wrong in becoming famous with internet profiles? Time changes, after all is people with their feedback who decide who they want to see on runaways or magazines!

  2. i don’t really see how it’s different from being spotted by a scout on the street – the stripe earning and stone stepping is surely the same for models who become famous on instagram. the only difference is how they were discovered.

  3. Totally agree with Naomi. None of these new girls will be remembered in 20 years. Maybe for things unrelated to modeling. Insta girls snapping selfies and filtering it will never equal a beautiful editorial by Steven Meisel.
