The build-up before the holidays has air buzzing with frantic energy. Worrying about the Christmas decorations as well as whether you missed anyone out on your guest list, it’s already a miracle if you ever catch a full night’s sleep. But once the holidays are over and you’re slowly settling back into your peaceful life, you can sleep as much as you deserve.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you’ll instantly fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow. To sleep as comfortably as you can, you can recognize factors to get quality rest. And one of those is wearing a set of clothes such as women’s sleep dresses by Natori and others that are perfect for slumber. But what should you consider in choosing?

Fabric

If you thought your day-to-day clothes were the only ones with various materials used, then prepare to be surprised. Other than the usual cotton or wool, here are some more fabrics for you to choose from:

  • Fleece
  • Silk
  • Satin
  • Linen
  • Polyester
  • Velvet
  • Flannel

With these options, you might be overwhelmed as to which one’s perfect for you. But regarding the fabric, the only thing you must have in mind is the room temperature. Do you have a heating system running? Are you more comfortable sleeping in the cool, night air? Because of personal preferences, what may be comfortable to one can be disturbing the other’s sleep. That’s why you must ask yourself about what temperature can guarantee a full night’s sleep.

If you like to be nice and toasty while asleep, then you’d want your sleepwear to retain warmth all over your skin. The best examples for this are:

  • Wool
  • Fleece
  • Velvet
  • Polyester
  • Flannel

Just a heads-up, though: wool may feel itchy on some people’s skin. So, if you’re sensitive to chafing, you should settle with either fleece or flannel. On the other hand, if you lean more on being cool as you sleep, find a fabric that’s breathable for your body. In this category, some examples are:

  • Cotton
  • Linen
  • Silk

Like wool, you might find linen to be a little rough on your skin. Pick other fabrics if your skin is sensitive to this one.

Mood

Just because you’re sleeping doesn’t mean you should stick to the usual shirt and sweatpants combo. Spoil yourself a little! Why not try out various clothing brands? Here, you can have a variety of designs to choose from that might scratch that innate fashionista at the back of your mind.

Not only that but if you think you’re looking too fierce in your sleep to be kept hidden in your bedroom, then go ahead and flaunt it! Wearing a slip dress outside would be perfect for the warm seasons, and this fashion trend will get you looking just as hot as the sun in no time.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you should completely disregard pajamas or oversized shirts. After an exhausting day, all you might want to do is de-stress and be cozy in bed. As long as you wear something that agrees with your wellbeing, you’ll be dozing off in an instant.

Size

Wearing something that fits you a little too snugly might not promise a decent sleep. Sure, you probably want to highlight your best features for your partner with the cups of your nighty pushing up your chest. But will it be okay to sleep in for the rest of the night?

Although not life-threatening, sleeping in tight clothes may restrict your breathing and blood circulation, hindering your melatonin production. Once that happens, it’ll affect your circadian rhythm (or sleep cycle), effectively causing sleeplessness and discomfort. On top of that, tight clothes will leave indents all over where it constricted you the most, so skin irritation is also high on the list of what can happen when you sleep in this kind of clothes.

Choose clothes that either fit you perfectly or are loose-fitting on your body. This way, nothing can interfere with your desire for a full night’s rest. And it can also boost your sleep quality, so you can savor your sleep to be ready for another day tomorrow.

Dress for the Occasion

Sleep is one of the essentials for everyone. By neglecting it, you’ll be jeopardizing your health in general. There are many factors to consider when sleeping, and wearing the right sleepwear is one.

Compared to how tedious dressing up for the day could be for some, you’d think that choosing clothes for you to sleep in would be easy. But as long as you have a good feel for what your tastes are, you’ll find yourself comfortable in your own skin while you sleep peacefully.
