2017 is turning out to be model Halima Aden’s breakout year. After being signed with IMG Models and walking the Yeezy show, the Muslim model graces the July 2017 cover of Allure Magazine. Photographed by Sølve Sundsbø, Halima wears a hooded Hilfiger Collection top with a Nike hijab. This is a historic cover, marking the first time Allure has featured a hijab-wearing woman on the front page. Stylist Beat Bolliger selected chic styles from the likes of Loewe, Gucci, Celine and more. Philippe Tholimet worked on hair with Val Garland on makeup.

Halima Aden on Wearing Her Hijab
In her interview, Halima opens up about whether wearing a hijab impacts her negatively. “I had friends who weren’t wearing it, and they went through bullying, too. It was a tough time — everyone just wanted to be mean.” And today? “If you think people are against you and that you’re a target, things will start appearing that way. I just go about my day, and I don’t think anyone is out to get me.”
