Emmanuele Alt’s first turn as editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris takes shape in the April issue starring cover girl Gisele Bundchen. Lensed by Inez & Vinoodh, the supermodel goes for a laid-back road trip in easy silhouettes from Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Roberto Cavalli and others.

LOOOOVE THIS! Beautifully shot, very natural modeling, simple, yet still reads as a great story. Hopefully all of Emmanuelle’s direction will be this good.

well considering the main inspiration according to Alt, is agnes varda vagabond, i’d say nice correlation. She can’t ALWAYS be super glam sexy power woman. sigh.

Dont get me wrong, I think Gisele is gorgeous when her hair, face, clothes are kept natural and fresh, but this to me is NOT French Vogue!

Corine made Vogue edgy & provocative piece of art translated into fashion that was as perverse as it was avant-garde. It didnt try hard, it just was what it was. Vogue under Corine could make people blush but never look away, and im affraid Emmanuelle is not up to the similar task. I can see that French Vogue will now get much more watered down to more flowy materials and wind in the hair. Very sad, but good luck to her.

Thats a great question. Im not implying she should do EXACT same thing as Corine, you dont ever replace someone, but rather succeed them, but Emmanuelle herself styled so many editorials under Corine that were just breathtaking. I think she should not lose the edge French Vogue is about. It was one source of provocation in mainstream fashion, and it seems to be whitering away….

this is basically not even her first true issue, that will be out in august, why not wait and see instead of being a hater, this is a beautiful editorial with great styling, I mean how can these people commenting say they don’t like it, but want the clothes, well if you want the clothes, the bag, whatever, than it succeeded and you want to be that woman

if we think that is the spring edition the editorial is great. lets see what will come from the couture editorials and the coverage of the fashion weeks. this is great, but is emmanuella’s first work by herself. she ‘s very clever, but i don’t think that she will keep that crazy-sexy-eddy thing used by carine. let’s wait and see!!!

um Gisele is hardly in every editorial. She does like 6 or so a year anymore. Yes she rules covers because she is known to be a great seller and attention grabber. but there is also Karlie Kloss,Daria Werbowy,Kate Moss,Anja Rubik,Isabeli Fontana etc who we see far more often. Icons sorta don’t go away, I hope you know that.

Gisele is gorgeous. Her beauty alone is inspiring (to me) and I wish her nothing but greater success. And yes, there was a time when there was more edge to Vogue, Paris. Times change, focus morphs and a natural evolution occurs. The business is better with Gisele in it. As for the Navajo bag – that is a J. Augur original – I’d know that design and stitch work anywhere. Very high quality – did you know you throw this in a washing machine? That’s what’s up!
