Emily Ratajkowski on Being a Confident Woman

In her interview, Emily Ratajkowski talks about being a sexually confident woman. “It took me a long time to not take personally the way people write me off; it took me a long time to realize that [it was] ideas our culture has drilled into people about what it means to be an attractive woman and a woman who plays into what sexy is.”

She continues, “I always had an anger — I don’t know if anger is too harsh of a word, but a resistance to ever letting anyone write me off. But it wasn’t until I was little older that I realized, ‘Holy shit, this is sexism.'”

  1. I’m not sure why Oyster consistently publishes such poorly shot editorials, even though they feature decent models. This looks like it was shot by an amateur photographer. Badly posed, badly exposed and badly composed. Seriously, there have been better photos shot on an iPhone. What is with the eyes positioned right in the middle of the frame in two or three of the photos? I get that it is important to be seen with a full beard, a high fade and a 1970s film camera in your hand, but what is wrong with learning how to take proper photos too? Retro is a style, not an excuse for switching off your brain. Authenticity can be about being authentically good, not just authentically amateurish.
