Marking Dior’s first haute couture showing since Raf Simons’ departure, the spring 2016 collection was helmed by studio directors Serge Ruffieux and Lucie Meier. If there is a main takeaway from the collection, it is the off-the-shoulder look. With press notes citing the style as “sensual and bare”, the style could be seen on everything from gowns to separates and minidresses.
Ruffieux and Meier also did not shy away from a few of Simons’ greatest hits with riffs on the Bar Jacket or crystal embroideries. Perhaps the most eye-catching looks were those that focused on tailoring. Long coats with flared hemlines and double-breasted outerwear cut an impressive shape.
