For Valentino’s spring-summer 2018 collection, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli looked to Space. The Italian designer cited a picture from the Apollo 8 moon landing mission as inspiration. It resulted in a dreamy collection that juxtaposed PVC jackets with loose-fitting shorts and gathered tops. Dresses were loose and layered with high-necked fabrics. For evening wear, Piccioli sent floor-length gowns embellished with beading and bold color combinations. The runway season’s breakout star, Kaia Gerber, also made an appearance at the runway.
