The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many of us to self-quarantine, keeping us from being able to socialize and be with our friends. One thing it hasn’t taken, however, is my fashion sense—my need to be fashionable.
If you’re reading this, You probably feel the same way. We need to look good! Despite not having to go anywhere, we get up, dress like we’re heading to a meeting with friends, and act like the world has its eyes on us.
To help you shop for the best fashion, I went ahead and compiled a few tips for you. After all, some of us may need to resort to online shopping to get the latest fashion to our homes.
5 Tips to Increase Your Fashion While Shopping
These 5 tips will cover both online shopping and regular brick-and-mortar shopping. A couple of these tips won’t apply to brick-and-mortar stores, and that’s ok.
1. Make Sure You Try it on
Let’s start with the golden rule of shopping for clothes: try it all on. Fashion is one of the most expensive hobbies on the planet, and buying a piece of clothing that doesn’t fit you? Be prepared to take a hit to your wallet.
Trying on clothes can be a bit difficult right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic and some clothing stores closing off their dressing rooms, so I can’t blame you for not trying a piece of clothing on. However, do it whenever possible.
2. Only Buy from Reputable Vendors
And while we’re talking basic advice, why not point out the growth of scamming sites and vendors? When you’re shopping online, you’ll see dozens of vendors and sites selling high-end fashion. However, you can’t trust all of these.
For example, scammers litter Amazon, and paying for an item through these scammers will result in you not getting the item or getting a rip-off, bootleg version of said item.
Before you throw away your money on clothing or accessories, be sure to check who or where it’s coming from.
3. Make Sure You’re Getting the Best Prices Available
This tip mostly deals with online shopping. See, when online shopping, it can be difficult to find out whether you’re being ripped off or not. Not only can you not try on the piece of clothing before buying it, but you also may not even be getting the best deals available.
Part of the reason why is because of price discrimination, a practice involving companies charging someone a higher price than others based on certain criteria (the device they’re using, their shopping habits, etc.).
You can avoid this by encrypting your data with a VPN, making sure sites and companies won’t be able to practice price discrimination on your account.
4. Pay Attention to the Fit
I’ve bought many clothes without first looking at the fit of the clothing. For example, I once bought a shirt that I thought looked cool, without checking the fit. Needless to say, it didn’t look so good on me.
Be sure to pay attention to the fit/specifications of the article of clothing before you buy it. Don’t waste your money like I did.
5. Tailor When Needed
Lastly, make a visit to the tailor a frequent thing. Some clothes fit right off the bat, but others require a bit of tailoring to get just right. And if you plan on losing or gaining weight, a tailor can help adjust your existing clothes to fit your body better.
Conclusion
Fashion is an important part of our lives. It helps us feel a bit more confident in ourselves, helps us look good, and lets us impress anyone we walk by. But the process of obtaining said fashion can be more difficult than it needs to be.
With these tips, however, you’ll be able to shop for any clothing you want without having to worry about spending more than needed or messing up your purchase.
