The Super Color – Peter Pilotto’s resort 2013 collection offers an explosion of colors with kaleidoscopic prints and patterns created digitally by designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos. Modeled by Ava Smith and Josephine Skriver, the silhouette of the transitional season is rigid with above the knee skirts matched with short or long-sleeve tops contrasting the chaotic patterns. The resort collection also offers pants and jumpsuits in bold, all over prints inspired by medieval illuminated manuscripts found in London’s Royal Library. Ferragamo’s Bohemian Resort – Salvatore Ferragamo’s resort 2013 collection was shown in Paris at the prestigious Louvre museum, yesterday. Marking the first fashion show presented in the historic setting, creative director Massimiliano Giornetti debuted an outing inspired by international destinations such as the California Coast, Mediterranean Sea and St. Barts with a collection of cool neutrals and crocheted separates. Striking a balance between boyish style and glam bohemian fashion, Giornetti offered lightweight knits, motorcycle jackets, slouchy pants and short, glittery dresses for the resort woman. Accessories included fringe embellished bags in luxe crocodile, python or nappa and a gold and white bone Art Déco butterfly necklace. The Ferragamo woman keeps it free-spirited yet thoroughly modern for the resort season.
A Colorful Affair – For her resort 2013 collection, Stella McCartney focused on her strong suits with an outing of flared pants, retro prints, oversize blazers and lightweight dresses. Modeled by Nadja Bender, the transitional season offered McCartney’s own take on early seventies style with plaid patterns, fringe and lace. The color palette took on vibrant hues of marmalade orange, canary yellow, forest green and hot pink steeped in neutral accents. The new collection is made for a woman who seeks leisurely yet impeccable style.
On the Money – Acne’s resort 2013 collection finds inspiration in PR girl style with an outing of slouchy, streetwear influenced shapes. Designer Jonny Johansson created prints from colored banknotes in green, indigo and gold hues matched with neutral basics. Accessories include patterned glasses, oversize clutches and multi-colored hats for a quirky yet wearable resort season.
Day to Night – For resort 2013, Donna Karan embraces an array of elegant skirts and dresses which are as practical as they are stylish. Modeled by Josefien Rodermans, Josephine Skriver, Madison Headrick and Romee Strijd, the new collection is steeped in a color palette of traditional black and white, silvery grey, taupe and vibrant pink. Silhouettes for the transitional season are ladylike, accentuating the waist or bust-line. Desert Chic – For resort 2013, BCBG Max Azria offered up its traditional color blocking with a hint of Middle Eastern inspired cuts and patterns. Floor-length dresses matched with boxy blazers set the tone for the season in shades of electric blue, canary yellow and vibrant turquoise. Billowing kaftans in long and short lengths offer a sexy twist to the elegant staple. Accessorized with aviator sunglasses and a colorful shoe, the Max Azria woman looks ready for a laid-back outing come resort time.
Tailored Resort – Nadja Bender is casually elegant for the resort 2013 lookbook from British label Burberry. Featuring a wardrobe of tailored jackets, pajama style shorts and fitted pants, the resort outing has a sophisticated ease. For evening wear, Burberry offers gowns in metallic shades matched with high slits and lingerie-inspired tops.
Cruise Pastel – After taking a look at the runway show earlier, we focus on Chanel’s press kit images lensed by creative director Karl Lagerfeld for the label’s cruise 2013 collection. The photographs star British model Cara Delevingne styled as a cross between punk rocker and eighteenth century French royalty. Pretty pastel bobs matched with bow-tied ponytails are in for the season as well as platform sneakers and large, unapologetic ruffles.
Chanel’s Punk Marie Antoinette – For Chanel’s cruise 2013 collection, designer Karl Lagerfeld offered a mash-up of eighteenth century French aristocracy and modern punk style. Models wore Easter egg dyed bobs and ruffled skirts in the show’s opulent setting of the Château de Versailles which featured three fountains, sixty-six models and sixteen tents. Despite the elaborate setting, the overall tone of the clothes were lighthearted with an outing of voluminous skirts, modified creepers and cotton-candy colored detailing. For accessories, Lagerfeld showcased fingerless gloves, oversize sun hats and embroidered bags for a royal twist to the youthful ensembles.
Denim Gal – Denim label MiH Jeans teams up with online retailer Shopbop for a resort 2012 capsule collection. Founder and creative director Chloe Lonsdale was inspired by 60s and 70s bohemian style for the look book images which star Ruby Aldridge. Lensed by Guy Aroch, the denim pieces are paired up with flowing blouses and button-up shirts.
