Cool by Chloe – Chloe’s offshoot line, See by Chloe, keeps it coolly modern with its resort 2013 collection featuring slouchy shapes and vibrant colors. Modeled by Julia Frauche, the transitional season is inspired by a traveling girl who stops by the Californian deserts in a palette of orange, tan, fuchsia pink and terracotta. Trousers for the season come in a variety of styles ranging from baggy denim to tailored skinnies matched with knits and printed tops. Accessories include maxi-clutch bags, pointed-toe heels and large totes giving a feminine touch to the boyish silhouettes.
Mugler’s Japanese Resort – As creative director Nicola Formechetti and designer Sébastien Peigné look to build a new image for the Mugler brand, the resort 2013 collection offers a cohesive outing of streetwear looks with a strong Japanese influence. And as the two sisters move forward with their vision for the brand, they look towards the label’s DNA for inspiration. Founder Madeleine Vionnet’s Intarsio techniques can be seen in the resort collection with Grecian style dresses and drapey fabrics of double silk georgette, techno-cady and silk jersey on full display. The transitional season offers suit jackets, jumpers and crêpe de chine outerwear for a focus on daywear looks. Using a simple silhouette perfect for layering or adornment, the transitional season offers thoroughly modern looks in coral, chartreuse, lavender and marmalade hues. Williamson also embraces street wear looks in the form of tailored pants adorned with abstract patterns and leather biker jackets. For evening wear, dresses are embellished using Swarovski crystals and metal work as well as draping and fringe detailing.
Biker Couture – DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten were inspired by the decade of glamour and grunge, the nineties, for their resort 2013 collection. For Sport – Designer Richard Chai based his resort 2013 “Love” collection off the concept of a woman wearing Nike sneakers with stylish workout apparel. The slouchy silhouettes come in a mix of neutrals and bright hues such as ivory, electric blue, army green and turquoise with grungy or color blocked patterns. A Tour of New York – For Paule Ka’s resort 2013 collection, designer Serge Cajfinger found inspiration in the story of a woman visiting New York City with an outing of ladylike silhouettes. Shot near the Hudson River, the Paule Ka woman wears a wardrobe influenced by Big Apple landmarks such as the Chrysler Building, the MoMA and Central Park. Color blocking and graphic patterns bring to mind New York’s sleek architecture while casual shorts and crop tops evoke the urban pace. Based in neutral hues but paired with bright accents such as canary yellow, lavender and orange; the transitional season is a harmonious marriage of elegance and youthful freedom.
