Classics Reinterpreted – For its pre-fall 2013 collection, Italian shoe label Casadei finds inspiration in timeless muses, icons of allure and elegance. Made of steel, the “Blade” heel becomes the main influence for the transitional season. A colorful selection of styles offers a balance between femininity and sensuality with exclusive shades of “Giada” green, “Klio” beige and “Rodio” grey made of suede and leather materials.
Color Blocked Pre-Fall – Vionnet offers an elegant outing of color-blocking and bias cuts for its pre-fall 2013 collection. Inspired by the work of French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, the transitional season is based in a color palette of black and white with accents of emerald-green, sapphire, sea-foam and burgundy. Modeled by Hedvig Palm, the shapes are a mix of masculine and feminine with fluid draping and sculpted shoulders. Fabrics are rich, including duchesse satin, cady and sable crepes as well as fur trimmings and gold embroideries. Shoes and bags echo back to Vionnet’s founding with subtle bias and diagonal cuts in suede, leather, crocodile and satin for a luxurious touch.
Marni’s Modern Woman – For its pre-fall 2013 collection, Marni aspires to make clothes fit for the hustle and bustle of today’s concrete jungle. The result is an impeccable outing which juxtaposes military attitude with feminine touches. The transitional season features menswear staples such as double-breasted outerwear, slouchy trousers, parkas and duffle coats. On the softer side, there are pleated skirts, floral prints and metallic leathers. Accessories are functional yet stylish–featuring double-strap boots, fringe-decorated loafers and oversized totes and clutches. A color palette of pastels, burgundy, army green and charcoal brings a playful tone to the pre-fall separates.
Sky Fall – Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane taps Sky Ferreira for the brand’s pre-fall 2013 style book. Photographed in Slimane’s signature black and white style, Sky works it in form-fitting leather and lace fashions. The color palette reflects the images–juxtaposing sultry black with white and silver detailing such as luxe furs and metal studs.
A Change of Season – See by Chloe sets out for an eclectic pre-fall 2013 collection based in an overtly bohemian aesthetic. The See girl mixes relaxed shapes with rich prints inspired by plant fossils for the transitional season. Outerwear is structured, offering motor jackets or fitted trench coats in satiny material while skirts fall to the knee in neutral shades. Pants are high-waisted, flared or tapered with a boyish cut for pre-fall.
Ultra-Violet – New York-based designer Leila Shams offers an array of cool, contemporary looks for her eponymous label’s pre-fall 2013 collection. Using a color palette of violet shades juxtaposed with black and white, the transitional season alternates between graphic prints and bohemian embellishments of lace, fringe and sequins. Skirts are mid-length with an emphasis on the hip and waist while pants are form-fitting skinnies. Essential Rykiel – Sonia Rykiel’s newly named creative director Geraldo Da Conceicao won’t make his debut collection until the fall-winter 2013 shows. In the mean time, the Rykiel studio team’s work on the pre-fall 2013 collection offers contemporary essentials with signature knitwear and whimsical prints. The transitional season sees menswear inspired pieces such as the trouser, suit jacket and button-up shirt. Dresses and skirts are a-line and mid-length; consisting of wool, woven chevrons and tweed jacquards. A Pre-Fall Mix – The pre-fall 2013 collection from Sportmax focuses on silhouette and texture with a sumptuous outing of voluminous shapes and graphic prints. A contemporary color palette of black, white and grey keeps the transitional season effortlessly chic. Jackets feature a rounded shoulder line, evoking a cocoon-like shape while skirts are slim to contrast with the structural outerwear. An interesting mixture of materials including bonded leather, glossy beaver, shiny and matte tweed, wool and felted jersey brings a sense of intrigue to the Sportmax women’s wardrobe for pre-fall.
A Shapely Transition – Max Mara plays on oversized, menswear influenced shapes for its pre-fall 2013 collection. The looks, modeled by Alana Zimmer, come in mostly nude and neutral shades with the main staples being double-breasted jackets and slouchy trousers. The masculine elements of the collection are downplayed with fur embellishments, usage of color-blocking and column-shaped dresses. Sonia Spirit – For its pre-fall 2013 collection, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel embraces individuality with an Andy Warhol inspired outing of wardrobe basics tweaked with unique details. Whimsical touches such as animal prints, butterfly jewelry, polka dot prints and bright accents bring a sense of surprise to the transitional season. Balancing the masculine and the feminine, the Sonia woman’s silhouette is easy and loose-fitting. Knitwear, a staple of any Rykiel collection, is kept simple with a rare striped print–perfect for mixing and matching.
