TEEN DREAM?: Miley Cyrus on the May cover of Seventeen Magazine
Singer Miley Cyrus has seemed to cover just about every glossy out there. From Harper’s Bazaar to W Magazine and most recently–Elle, publications have been clamoring for more. WWD has revealed that teen-geared magazine Seventeen wanted a Miley cover, but it was not approved by the star. “She’s very, very selective when it comes to magazine covers,” says a source close to her camp. “Miley declined Seventeen and denied being a part of it, completely.” Which makes sense considering her recent foray into the high fashion scene.
Following up the cover yesterday, ELLE has released new images from its May issue featuring Miley Cyrus. In addition to posing in designer looks from Anthony Vaccarello, Marc Jacobs and Saint Laurent; the girl of the moment was interviewed by Tavi Gevinson a former fashion blogger who at 17 can relate to Cyrus who is 21 years-old. In the new issue, Miley opens up about her fans, feminism and working for Disney.
On feminism and double standards…
TG: I read that you consider yourself a feminist. What does that mean to you?
MC: I’m just about equality, period. It’s not like, I’m a woman, women should be in charge! I just want there to be equality for everybody.
TG: Right! And that’s what feminism is.
MC: I still don’t think we’re there 100 percent. I mean, guy rappers grab their crotch all fucking day and have hos around them, but no one talks about it. But if I grab my crotch and I have hot model bitches around me, I’m degrading women? I’m a woman—I should be able to have girls around me! But I’m part of the evolution of that. I hope.
Miley on ELLE–Singer Miley Cyrus lands her first ELLE cover with the magazine’s May issue. The “Wrecking Ball” star who appears in Marc Jacobs’ spring 2014 advertisements, wears a sequined pants and top look from his fall collection in the image photographed by Michael Thompson. The May issue is devoted to woman in music, and Miley is certainly one of the most talked about names on the pop scene right now.
The Full Miley–Following up a preview of the advertisements, the full Marc Jacobs spring 2014 campaign has been released, and it stars none other than pop star Miley Cyrus. While Juergen Teller did not want to shoot the attention-grabbing singer, David Sims captured Miley in a series of dark beach images taken on location in Los Angeles, California. Miley is joined by models Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds in the photographs.

While Miley Cyrus’ new Marc Jacobs campaign seems to have some polarizing reactions, one person who didn’t want to work with the “Wrecking Ball” singer is photographer Juergen Teller. The German creative has shot Marc Jacobs’ campaigns since the late 90s, and you may have noticed that the new spring 2014 advertisements were lensed by David Sims.
Jacobs told WWD, “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist..He just didn’t want to shoot her.” The American designer goes on to praise Cyrus though. “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything.”
Miley Gets Moody for Marc Jacobs – The spring-summer 2014 campaign from Marc Jacobs enlists the much buzzed about singer Miley Cyrus. The collaboration seemed to be in the works for awhile since the starlet wore Jacobs at the Met Gala last year among other events. In the image, Miley is shown posing on a dark beach setting looking sullen in an embellished shirt and bermuda shorts. After seeing Lady Gaga for Versace and Rihanna for Balmain; the spring campaign season seems to be the return of the celebrity.
