Marni Fall 2014–Texture and exaggerated proportions took over for Marni’s fall-winter 2014 collection. Designer Consuelo Castiglioni took on a nomadic theme full of texture including luxurious fur coats, and feather and tassel embellished skirts. In addition to the oversized outerwear, the Marni woman also embraces wide and cropped trousers as well as long skirts that have an asymmetric hemline. Color is put on show with bold primaries and autumnal hues including burgundy, navy and taupe splashed across furs or as abstract floral prints. The shoe for fall is a mens-inspired flat made with a chunky heel and gold metal detailing across the toe.
Marni Pre-Fall 2014 – The Marni woman looks ready to face the elements with the label’s pre-fall 2014 collection. A cocoon-like silhouette dominates the transitional season, honing in on construction as well as layers including rich brocades, sheepskin and luxe furs. Pre-fall moves away from the practical and into the whimsical with a mix of abstract patterns and volume-filled textures. For shoes, the Marni woman looks to the mannish side of fashion with Chelsea boots adorned with metallic toes, or felt sandals.
Marni’s Take on Sport – Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni took a deliberate step back from minimalism for the brand’s spring 2014 collection shown during the fifth day of Milan Fashion Week. The result is an outing of feminine silhouettes with a focus on the waist in shapes that play on volume and proportion. The designs are given sporty touches like visors, platform sandals and bomber jackets. Embellishments, far more than you typically see in a Marni collection, played an important role for spring in the form of tridimensional floral patterns, crystal embroideries and ribbons. Striking a balance between lightness and density, Castiglioni makes her very own brand of femininity for the new season.
Marni Evening Collection – An elegant nonchalance defines Marni’s Evening collection which takes on the classic ladylike silhouette and morphs it into something more relaxed. A dark color palette of black, deep red, green and hints of white serve as a contrast to floral and geometric prints. Fur trims add a sense of opulence to the already sophisticated outing of flared skirts, immaculately cut blouses and menswear-inspired trousers. Details such as stack heeled sandals in black and gold, flat sandals with bejeweled detailing and slouchy bows create a contrast to the Marni woman’s understated shapes.
Marni Resort – Marni’s resort 2014 collection offers the label’s signature ladylike yet eccentric aesthetic with an outing of womanly silhouettes which place focus on the waist. The color palette this season is varied; ranging from black and white to jewel toned purples, blues and greens. Skirts fall to the knee while 3/4th length blouses are worn over cropped trousers and long tunics. The Marni woman also makes a nod to the seventies for resort, wearing bold psychedelic prints that play off floral motifs. Bags this season are rectangle-shaped made with contrasting borders, laminated effects and perforation techniques while shoes range from flat sandals to platform heels.
A Creative Effort – For it’s winter denim collection, Marni collaborated with Argentinian artist Romina Quiros on a selection of accessories and t-shirts. Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni was attracted to the artist’s attentiveness to environmental issues and her abstract and unique illustrations. The printed designs are featured on several pieces throughout the collection including PVC shoppers with leather handles, I-Pad cases and cotton jersey t-shirts. The Marni Winter Edition 2013 Denim collection will be available June 2013 online and in Marni boutiques worldwide.
Woven Accessories – For spring-summer 2013, Marni launches woven handbags and clutches made with hand woven patent leather ribbons and raffia ribbons. The result is a three-dimensional pattern in contrasting colors or monotones ranging from blue to orange to white. The bag is accented with shiny metal detailing.
Conscious Pretty – Marni once again includes a selection of recyclable materials for its summer 2013 Jewellery Collection. The Italian label gets eco-friendly with pieces made from sustanible materials such as recycled plastic bottles, flower buds, abstract petal shape leaves and geometrical boules in vibrant hues, transparent materials and black. The new Jewellery Collection is available in Marni boutiques worldwide and on Marni.com.
Natural Marni – Inspired by a series of jewelry that is characterize by abstract animals, similar to microorganisms observed under the microscope; Marni introduces a new bijoux collection made with wooden materials. Shaped with shiny metal and brass cutouts, tiny animals decorate earrings while bracelets are accented by leather bands or metal. The line also includes oversized brooches.
Marni Goes to Tianjin – Marni has opened a new boutique in China’s Tianjin Galaxy Mall featuring two distinct entrances which evoke a sleek futurism. The new store is 182 square meters and will house the ready to wear, shoes and accessory collections. Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni worked closely with architecture firm Sybarite to create a clean and elegant setting, reflecting the captivating style of her aesthetic.
